Originals that are better than a re-release?

I don't get why Twilight Princess HD is loved and people wants it ported on Switch/Switch 2 while has worse visuals and worse frame-rate compared to the OG Gamecube version

No way! I played TPHD and it did not have worse framerate. I think it had a more stable framerate than the GC and Wii versions. Also I think the visuals are good in the HD Remaster. Also it fixed some visual problems, caves are no longer pitch black and it’s easier to see golden bugs in the day. I’d even say it looks better than WWHD. WWHD had this ugly blue filter in the game and used way too much bloom.

I'd have to go with Xenoblade Chronicles X. The WiiU version characters have sharper features that i like more than the roundier ones from the Switch version. Other than that the visual "upgrades" either don't look different at all or weren't notable. The biggest thing they did was make the gameplay dumber, a lot dumber.
The worst remakes are the ones that didn't need to happen all, like this one... and Last of Us.
What did they do with the gameplay in the remake?

Its easier in general, mobs are easier to kill, money comes a lot faster, as does lvling, and the few choices you do actually get mean nothing. The most notable is choosing which division of blade you join is purely cosmetic.

Demon's Souls Remaster was a huge disappointment. It's an artistic disaster. It took designs meticulously crafted to tell a story through how characters look and threw it in the trash in favor of some generic fantasy re-interpretations. Wish we just got a port of Demon's Souls.

the original Dragon Quest 8 for PS2 has quite a bit over the 3DS rerelease. Despite the 3DS version having new features like new teammates, monsters visible on the overworld, and additional costumes and cutscenes, with even a couple bonus dungeons. The original version just has a charm to it.

And also better graphics and an orchestrated soundtrack.

the japanese 3DS version got the Orchestrated OST like PS2 localization but in 3DS localization used the synchetized OST like japanese PS2 version

View attachment 80572Shin Megamix Tendeu Strange Journey Redux is by far the worst re-release Atlus has ever done, it simply ruined the original vision and added a bunch of shit that doesn't fit with the game's story.

And also the new character Alex is awful, and they've also replaced the character portraits that were originally drawn by the legendary Kazuma Kaneko with these new really ugly character portraits. View attachment 80576 The original version. View attachment 80577 The Redux version.
agh... I really hate Strange Journey Redux...

Totally agree. Demon's Souls is maybe my favorite FromSoft game and that remake is such a disservice to it. The atmosphere is completely non-existent and a few of the characters in the Nexus animate like an animatronic character in a Disneyland ride. They look so goofy. And remake Stockpile Thomas gives me the creeps.

I'd say Kingdom Hearts 1.5 Final Mix is worse than the original in almost every way. All the additional Heartless feel tedious, obtuse, and they magnify the worst parts of the late-game grind (which I didn't have a problem with in the original, but can't deny that it can be tedious to wrap things up--Final Mix adds so much more of it, though). Plus, playing the PC version, there were a ton of visual glitches, especially with shadows, that made the game feel cheap whenever they showed up.

N.Sane Trilogy, i love the game's new graphic facelift (Coco is ADORABLE) but the gaming component...

+ Jumping feels like if Crash ate an anvil
+ Losing in Crash 1 doesn't denies you the Box Gem... except the Color ones
+ Boxes themselves has wonkier hitboxes be to land on them as well as hitting them (The Polar Bear levels never give me too much problem for the Box Gem in PSX, but here the boxes seems to be ghosts)
+ Controls feel jankier regarding sliding, especially cruel since you really want to slide or courch jump often due to the aformentioned jump physics
As someone who grew up playing the originals religiously, it took some time getting used to the weird physics.
