Opinions on Zelda II: The Adventure of Link?

Just curious but which other antagonists you liked? I appreciated DeathI, Vaati and even Null.

If it's like Adventure of Link/Simon's Quest but more refined I'll try that.
I haven't played all of the Zelda games, so I'm not the best person to ask who the best villains are. I thought fighting a dark version of Link in Zelda II was pretty cool though.

Infernax is worth trying. It's kind of like a polished version of Simon's Quest with a few Zelda II influences. The game is a bit hard, but nowhere near as tough as Zelda II was.

Dark dopplegangers is an overused trope nowadays but I do appreciate it because it was quite novel back then in video games.

To be honest I'm a bit tired of the overuse of "hijacked by Ganon" in most Zelda games. Zant could've been the primary antagonist of Twilight Princess it would've still been a great game.

Hard as in punishing and having to remember the level design or just hard as in challenging?

Just like Castlevania II I think it´s a good game that got to much hate when it came out because it was not like the first game.

I'd still argue that the cryptic hints and even some villagers telling some blatant misinformation was not a good game design idea.

Sometimes it's not just "because it was different".

I won´t argue aginst that what so ever but as I now got older and finished both game I enjoyed them I mean as you said cryptic hints and such was bad design and I fully agree but they are not bad in it self they are kind of fun.

And honestly compared to allot of LJN games they are pure gold >.<

Thankfully nowadays you have romhacks that fixes the game without removing the experience by making it too easy. The retranslation hack is what I go by if I wanted to play it.

Ah yes. But I'd argue that comparing with something worse doesn't make something else intrinsically good.

Yeah that´s true dumb comparison but I was more thinking compared to allot of LJN games these are playable and don´t suck away the fun they just have some dumb mechanics like what a horrible night to have a curse yeah it was dumb as hell but delet that and it´s not that bad. I enjoyed it more than I taught I would. Some LJN games are broken as hell or game play so bad it´s not fun hey lets collect clocks.

:)

I played it after watching AVGN video and many others saying how bad was it but in the end it wasn't that bad i got the feeling that the game was "quoting AVGN a bit of a nintendo power game" since the NPC give very vague information and death mountain was guide or die trying i don't remember if they gave you some clue in saria town tbh but i went in blind and had to use a guide.

AVGN is thankfully a character but I feel that too many around are repeating what he's saying without actually trying the game...

True enough it almost made me not play the game because when someone that big says X and other people by default says the same is like reading a warning, unless you feel curiosity you tend to steer away. I find his videos double edge, since he might make some people not play certain games but also talks about games most people might not even know about and make them try them

AVGN didn't really make a video about Zelda II until much later on after all his other more justified NES videos. lol It's like after you go and hate on the more obvious ones like bootlegs, movie tie in games and LJN, what's left? Zelda II? Another Castlevania video? I can see why he started branching out and covering more recent stuff after that like Big Rigs. Kinda miss the old cast though. The new dude is kinda offputting.

Big Rigs is over 20 years old so not that recent at least.

Who btw? I don't really recall most of the cast aside from James himself.

I think he means about the writers and mike being out, also the fact that the nerd now rarely plays any game he reviews.
