Are gooning days may soon be over friends. At least Wikipedia is being a badass, which is a sentence I never thought I'd say. Joking aside this whole thing reminds me of T.S. Elliot and How the World Will End. The fact that its not specific but broad leaves what is considered for "safety" on the table of a now censorship buffet. I hate bringing it up, but a good example is the "Think of the children" that people here familiarized themselves with when it came to recent events. Keep in mind we're in the 12 month period of which these sites and services will need to comply, so nothing is happening at the moment. What are your thoughts?

I mean... Companies have to ensure certain content is hidden from children, but that's under the assumption that people would be honest about their age, which is almost never the case. At one point I had to kick out a nine-year-old girl from one of my forums because the legal joining age was 13 and we could get in trouble for allowing her to stay. Likewise, one of my oldest and most cherished friends pulled a fast one on us by joining at 12 and kept it hidden long enough that we didn't find out until years after.

I also find it amusing that harmful content may still be posted, just hidden from children.

It really reminds me of Bender playing God in Futurama, trying deeply and increasingly misguided things instead of addressing the core issues until everything went straight to hell.

I use a VPN so hopefully I'll be alright to access any site I want.

Well my Internet is loadable not on VPN or a prepaid Internet so good thing that I aren't glue on the Internet I mean I already satisfied of my belongings ks better to stack up before those government turn into baby sites.

They could go about this in a way that makes this content harder for minors to access with less risk to privacy. Let people flash their ID at a corner store, gas station, etc. and buy a code that allows access to 18+ services but has no identifying info permanently tied to it, especially if you choose to pay in cash. Then you can type this code into adult sites to use them. It's not perfect, but it creates a similar barrier as the one to buying alcohol or tobacco without trusting a single entity with pictures of hundreds of thousands to millions of IDs. But governments won't do that, because they don't pass up chances to surveil and control you under the guise of safety.

That is concerning. I know I jest on it, but I really do think of the children especially with matters like that. Hell, my first month here I didn't even cuss. I actively chose not to until I saw enough people doing it anyway.
