This discussion was born along the lines of What do you miss the most about "the internet of old"?, however, this time I wanted to propose 2 differences without sabotaging the original discussion started by @Waffles.

1) Taking into account this forum's rules, one can discuss any topic they wish without necessarily entering the internet's Venn diagram, but without denying it either.

2) Once the topic to vent about is chosen, one must then make an effort to look at the glass half full and list at least one positive aspect of this current reality.

Most people tend to polarize towards blind idealism or indiscriminate hate, therefore, I opened this discussion to vent yes, but without losing touch with reality like a protagonist from “Silent Hill”.

A quick example regarding myself:

Hate:
I hate today's Internet for how devious, fake, rigid, barren and sanitized it has become due to big corporations, which manipulate content creators and a vocal minority of puritans through the guidelines imposed on AdSense, when no possible real-world customer really cares about them (Ever heard of additional extensions that are even paid for so that no ads are displayed?).

Since in the market there are those who will never give you anything, those who always want to spend little, those willing to pay any amount to get the desired quality and those in the middle.

For brands afraid of unconscious association with negative situations, it would simply suffice to place an initial disclaimer dissociating themselves from everything and everyone always and forever.

Love:
However, regarding today's internet I absolutely love its connection speed and I wouldn't go back to a 56k connection for anything in the world (even if its startup sound has become legendary for some of us).

Well let's see

Hate:
I really don't like the community echo chamber it feels toddler on Kindergarten where they feel superiority and rage bait to one another to the point I will always quotes like Obelix is "this people are crazy"

Love
Well at the Internet speed and some really good sites (especially on the seven sea where they have many) this forum which now my new hang out

Yeah they were good and the bad

for the most part im down with what everyone has put down so it gets a little harder to come up with a new one but i think this ones interesting to note

i love that people have been given a new way to share with the world and get their names out there; they get a much better shot at being discovered and recognized for their talents which lets them make a living off it

however, that also comes with the people that are unprepared for sudden traction. the influx of positivity and appreciation tends to get to their heads and now they get to indulge in their vices with minimal consequence in the moment. in short, they blow their one shot at making it due to either immaturity or being coddled by said fanbase

Sadly more than 2 things but ......

I hate today's Internet for how it makes people lose all common sense or stop using it and how people have become hyper sensitive you can´t even say shit with out people losing their mind. I also hate this fake pretending from adults that say think it the children and yet do Jack shit a about Robolox and other similar things that grooms children. No one cares about that but Hentai games ob steam that´s a fucking crime. I hate all the shitty content creators that go to other countries and disrespect their law and culture for content.

And I hate all this toxic positivity. Because it´s fake as hell.

I basically hate how internet made people become complete morons yes it´s a harsh word but fitting.

I love how easy it is to get your hands on old games thanks to internet archive, My abandon games and get fans translations on games you always wanted to play. I love how when stuck in a game you can easy find a guide/walkthrough to read or play.
I love how easy it is to get access to anime with out having to blow 80-100 euro because they are all imported

Hate: How so much of the modern internet is designed to keep people invested through anger, misinformation, and negativity.

Love: How much wonderful fan/indie made content is still regularly available. Lot's of great quality made fan-games, mods/hacks, and indie projects. Even stuff like Vocaloid having a huge resurgence in recent years. There's still lot's of great stuff out there, if you're willing to look past what's often shoved in our faces.

Love: Language barriers have almost completely vanished and the online world feels more united as a result -- there are no longer great divides where ethnic groups would stick to their own sites and rarely cross over to others.

Hate: Unfortunately, this has also made the small, niche, "third language" sites largely vanish off the internet, almost as if the color had drained from the web -- my favorite German site defaults to English and another one written in German, Polish and Lithuanian also updates in English first, even though it is all about a small area of the world only relevant for those groups.

It's a tough compromise, and one we haven't yet mastered.
