I just saw this movie for the first time, I didn't have great expectations. But I enjoyed it.
Early in the movie you get rewarded with a meme scene:

If that doesn't make you wanna watch it idk what will.
The movie itself is plot driven and never dull. The story is good, it is Charles Dickens after all.
Acting is great, the kid is very good actor, My hero Alec Guinness is in it too, what an actor! (And I'm not into Star Wars).

And the ending, THE ENDING!!!!
OMG, Pure perfection.

I give this movie 7/10 Spiegels.

Never heard of it. I'll add it to my list of movies to watch.

If anyone is interested in watching this, full movie is up on YT. The intro is insanely good.

Ahh thanks and yeah i've been interested in watching this film for some while :D

I’ve seen it a few times despite it’s age this movie is still on par to the ones we’re getting nowadays.

I think it's worth mentioning the kid that's playing Oliver Twist will go on to become a legend in the entertainment business, where he would produce/direct some of the greatest British Comedies of all time like Monty Python, Steptoe and Son, Black Adder, and Mr. Bean.

Yes! YouTube is a really good place for Vintage movies, it appears. I believe 12 angry men is also on it last I checked.

I have a very old memory of a song about pickpocketing, is it from this movie??

That would be the fantastic Oliver! (1968), with Oliver Reed!

Specifically, I think you're talking about the song with Fagin introducing Oliver to the "trade", if you will. Ron Moody is sooooo good in this, it's unreal. Charming song, too!
