Nintendo Labo Variety Kit came with one for a cardboard fishing rod which appears to operate with one controller inside the crank being spun and then the other inside the base of the handle.

This is compatible with the included fishing minigame in the Labo software and also the other fishing game Fishing Star: World Tour. Which also has its own fishing rod controller based on a similar design to the Labo motion-wise.

Bass Pro Shops: The Strike - Championship Edition seems to have its own fishing rod attachment different from FS: WT & labo.

Most of the 3rd party fishing rods you can see on AliExpress and Amazon appear to be mimicking this game's rod accessory for some reason. I don't think any other game supports this kind? Even though it's the most common 3rd party fishing rod accessory type, probably because it's the easiest to make.

Ace Angler: Fishing Spirits has an optional edition that comes with this kind of rod where the reeling motion continually clicks the A/D-pad right button on the joycon. Not sure if any other fishing games on the console support reeling in with A, but that's at least confirmed to be supported since it's included with some copies of the game. Although the Japanese version (Tsuri Spirits) features a totally different design where the 2nd joycon is attached and spun around as the crank handle. No idea wh (2nd and 3rd images below).

I can find a 3rd party version of the English version of Ace Angler's rod. Appears to operate the same with the reel causing the A/right button to be pressed. Since this doesn't use motion controls at all (except I believe an upward lifting motion to cast or something) maybe multiple games support this version?

Reel Fishing: Road Trip Adventure and RF: Summer Days both appear to not support any accessories or at least definitely not motion controls.

It's really stupid they couldn't have standardized fishing game controls around one accessory design. Labo released in April 2018, so they probably all should have used that design, I don't think any other fishing game predates 2018 other than Ultimate Fishing Simulator. I wish someone could compile the info on this stuff. I'm trying to piece it together by web-cruising and intimation, which probably isn't 100% accurate info.

I remember seeing this thing here

It has a pretty cool accessories that you can build, my favorite would be the piano

I can't imagine being a kid when switch released and seeing all this stuff. No wonder Nintendo Switch was so popular
I guess? Switch sorta' has some cool accessories like the flip grip for vertical screen games, mostly shmups, arcade ports, and pinball. I've been looking into them just out of curiosity since the Switch has so many input methods that seem to have been barely used.

There's even a little mini pinball setup you slide the switch into and connects over USB with arcade buttons and all that.

There's also some plastic knuckles you can buy for those fitness/boxing games made by Aksys (kinda' tempted to try out the Miku Hatsune one someday, honestly).

But otherwise it's not great. That HORI steering wheel for example isn't really supported and requires a lot of per-game control swaps. And there's so little info about this stuff.

By comparison the PS1 had mouse input, light guns, dual analog flight stick thing, the NeGcon, fight sticks, steering wheels (not great), dance mats, proper fishing controller, PocketStation memory card, etc.
