Sigma 2 "had" to be cut back so that it would run properly on the PS3, that's why there's purple mist and less enemies. I say had in quotations because Sigma 2 was somewhat of a remaster besides the crazy effects and I think that added extra overhead and they didn't really need to update it like that a year after the main game. Ninja Gaiden 2 is a bit of a cursed game because there's never been a perfect release of it. OG2 is trapped on 360, and every new port has been based on Sigma 2. And the newest ports of it even broke things about OG PS3 Sigma 2, like some enemies having higher health bars and damage output on Master Collection and 2 Black compared to PS3 Sigma 2. Either way though, hopefully you enjoy them enough to finish them. Ninja Gaiden is like top 10 game series for me, loved them even since I was a kid playing the NES games with my mom, and the PS3 ports with her boyfriend at the time. Really slick series.
