Ninelives: The dead MMORPG I never knew existed

More seriously, sometimes I feel companies and developers don't really understand the massive undertaking that even getting a MMORPG off the ground even is, and that making it actually succeed is a whole other gigantic challenge.

It demands an immense ability to read the market, detect trends and fill those gaps, all while keeping in mind external competition and a sustainable pricing model; really it's like trying to bullfight a Behemoth: even if you do things right, the risk of a trample is ever present.

yooo i had this on my pc and played it semi recently, had an account set up and everything, wonder how much content was available cause i didn't play much.

I'm reminded how many times I've played an MMO with what I've read is a solid sense of community and chatting, and then no one uses in-game chat and it's all on Discord now and I just lose interest.
This, however feels like a game where people would be chatting all the time in-game if it had kept going. It has that kinda vibe to me.

I understand what you mean. Also, IM clients were more interesting pre Discord.

Old Ragnarok online it was just like that, what a golden era it was

Didn't watch the whole video, but sometimes at a glance you can almost tell if a game is japanese. So went to confirm on the site and found out that it was made by only 2 guys. Wowzers. Unfortunately though, if I ever got into an MMO it wouldn't be this one...

This is by the guys that helped with the remake of Garage: Bad Dream Adventure. And the Garage artist did some minor work for this too. Ironically he also worked in a cancelled MMO before this one.
