New Yu-Gi-Oh! format: Genesys

I guess Konami are introducing another new format to try and freshen up the Yu-Gi-Oh! card game:

The gist is to eliminate both Link & Pendulum summoning, remove the ban-list and assign each usable card a point value with your deck having a total point cost limit.

They'll likely balance this format out a bit more once more people have had a chance to play it and give feedback, but the point values assigned to each card seem a bit arbitrary to me.

Yugioh peaked with Synchro and XYZ, getting rid of Link and Pendulum is a good call, but I don't know if removing the ban-list is a good idea. The point values assigned to some cards is weird too.

I brute forced my way into understanding Pendulums, but I never could wrap my head around Link summoning

Imo for video games atleast they should introduce a system that only lets you play cards up to a single point.
For example in the GX League you can only play Fusion, Ritual etc. No Syncro, XYZ, Pendulum, Link.
That´s why I like Rush Duel in Duel Links, fewer cards, fewer rules, fewer summons, big fun!

Yeah, I'm not sure about it either. A few GBA games had that sort of cost system, but I don't know if I'd apply that to real world duels. Have to see how it goes, I guess

I've been asking for more official formats in Yu-Gi-Oh for a long time now, glad to FINALLY see it happen. Not exactly what I would have done, but I'll take it. The main format has been very stale to me for some time now.

So kind of a blend of classic Duel Links and the deck cost system in Duelist of the Roses? Sounds pretty fun!

Honestly heartbreaking there's no pendulums. They'd actually be good in Genesys even without links.
