I still return to 2 every once in a while even though the game is objectively nothing to write home about. It's a fun arcade racer you can play for 15 minutes and be done with it. I never even knew High Stakes existed until long after it came out and by that point the NFS series reached far higher highs with Underground 2 and Most Wanted. Seems a lot of people had similar experience. From the few retrospectives I've seen over the years it looks like it was the first NFS to have a proper career mode so props for that I guess but I'm not particularly eager to play it. Maybe one day when I'm tired of revisiting Underground 2 or 2 for my NFS fix. They don't make'em like they used to, huh?
