Well, not sure if this is a good place to start this on, but after a bit of digging I wasn't able to find a better place. Topic is music and it's as broad as a Mercedes parked sideways. I was always heavily inspired by music. I find it an interesting distraction that always keeps the brain in a game of power chess. Listen to it and you'll be able to make moves that you weren't probably supposed to do otherwise since it will guide you with its dopamine flow. Since some newly formed AI tools made it into the present this has helped me reach points of imagination I was unable to reach before. As such, I discovered a rather cumbersome and somewhat addictive hobby of trying to find music I like to hear not by searching but by creating it by asking an AI for it. And, it's actually fun and incredibly rewarding.
Now, while I know I am strongly music oriented myself, I'm curious how are you guys on the topic of "music". Whether you listen to it pasively or whether it inspires you.

And since I'm on a music topic now, to not disappoint (hopefully) I'll share some of my own inspiration. After a few hours of back-and-forth with "the AI", I made this remix after "Heart - Alone" which kind-of makes more sense to me than the original. :)

What are your prefferences in music or what inspires you, if... ?

There’s an entire subforum dedicated to music, so this can probably be moved there.

Though to answer your question, my preferences are very varied.
Progressive rock, classic heavy metal and ambient synth lies closest to my heart, but it also depends a lot on the season.

Lately I’ve been listening to a lot of 90 underground hip hop, reggae, jazz, and a bunch of jungle/dnb.

Damn, this is exactly what I was fearing. Not being able to find the damn place and then probably relying on some admin to clean up after me. (sorry)

I share the ambient synth preference, but it depends on the mood for me too.

Don’tchu worry nutt’naboutit

I’ll share one of my favorite ambient tracks, I always get back to this album several times a year:

For some very weird reason this vibes the same for me as the level soundtracks of Tomb Raider 3.

One of the few projects that Ildjarn was a part of that were great. I don't know if the other guy (Nidhogg) harnessed the man somehow or what but their ambient collabs are S-tier. You might be interested in Sort Vokter. That's the other band that the two were involved in that I can recommend. Fairly raw black metal but it has that something to it that's charming. As far as his own exploits go, let's just say that there's raw black metal with low production value and then there's Ildjarn. Iirc he had an ambient album or two that he worked on on his own that were decent but I'm not gonna lie, it's been a while since I've heard any of his stuff so take what I say with a pinch of salt.
