Lets see... I waited around 8 hours for the midnight launch of the 360 at Best Buy, only to go home, play it for 30 minutes or so, and have it RRoD.

I sent in the system for repair, finally got it back, all jazzed to play some Perfect Dark Zero and Kameo (I know) and this time... it was RRoD straight out of the box from the repair center. This happened so many times they started sending me free (bargain bin Platinum Hits) titles with every return

Then after waiting in line for 17 hours in front of Walmart for the Wii, I was done. I always make sure to get those pre-orders in! The Wii one was great due to the random soccer moms in SUVs driving by offering to pay for people's spots in line.

Me and my friends went to the midnight launch of Super Smash Bros for 3DS at our local in-mall GameStop! We, um… were the only ones there, and we’d been at the mall anyways to see a movie. But we still got the game before anyone else! I certainly enjoyed bonking my pals on the head with flower pots as the Animal Crossing guy, I did. ?

Never did go to too many midnight releases for games, but there was a time when Modern Warfare 2 was dropping. Throughout the day me and the other closers realized we all had pre-orders. An hour or two before the end of business, with much angst over how long the lines would be, my shift lead put a hand on my shoulder.

"You have to go, for all our sakes."

.....and he sent me early to save a place in line while the rest double-timed cleaning up for the night. We all partied up on Xbox and played till half of us had to leave for opening shifts the following morning.

Only late night release i've been to is for one of the later Harry Potter books. Can't remember which one though. It was at a mall. Long line too.

I've been to a few mtg drops. Essentially the same as draft night but it's midnight
