Does anyone here like Metallica? I really like it, and it's one of the bands I listen to the most.
I've lost count of the number of times I've listened to these songs; they're just amazing.
I never understood why some people hate them.

Well considering I have a Metallica tattoo (true story) I guess I should say they're one of my favourites. My favourite album has jumped around a lot over time, but I think it's settled on Justice. Love the experimental side of it, and the riffs and the bizarre time signatures and rhythms. After that, I'd probably say Hardwired and then the expected Master. I'd say for my favourite songs The Thing That Should Not Be, Fight Fire With Fire, and the Justice title track.

Ok then imagine the music of a band you hate the most and understand that to them listening to Metallica is like you listening to the band you hate the most lol. This logic is same for musical genre too, some people react to metal music as how some people react to rap music. Yes, they equally feel like puking lol.

As for me I like some Metallica song as in music and/or lyrics, same as some rap song. I don't pick a favorite music genre or band, I eat whatever is good lol. And then I listen to classic music if I'm in the mood. I can't imagine myself being stuck in few bands and musical genres, nor really a fan of a specific band or musical genre.

I've always thought James Hetfield was a jealous prick over the way he treated Dave Mustaine.

Megadeth are the superior metal band imo.
They both can coexist, outside of sharing one member and both being thrash metal they're very different bands.

I know...and their first five albums are killer.

Apart from the abysmal production job on Justice, what were they thinking there?

Attempts to artificially raise the volume of Newsted's bass make it sound so much better.

Here for anyone who hasn't heard it.

Such a shame as Jason is an insane bass player; his Blackened riffs are mind-blowing, let alone the rest of the album. There's always been various stories and explanations as to why, but I'm not going to bother trying to sort through gossip tier stuff.

Metallica seemingly has thing for questionable production jobs, also considering St. Anger and Death Magnetic's ridiculous loudness.

It's true, oh I remember the day I bought St Anger on CD, I'm a fan of more left field efforts like 'Endless Nameless' by The Wildhearts...or to a lesser extent 'Suicide pact, you first' by Therapy? like when a band goes mad for an album and tries to do something totally different...so I tried to make myself like it, I tried to tell myself it was avant-garde then it dawned on me it was legit terrible, then I saw that documentary with them, all man feelings and therapy and I was...okay I get it now.

It was definitely different, that's for sure. It has some issues even outside of the tone change, but I'm of the opinion that if St. Anger was released by a nu-metal band of the time it wouldn't have been so panned, I think the fact that Metallica released it was half the reason it got clowned on. Every song is like three minutes too long, but there's still some good stuff buried in it; The Unnamed Feeling I dare say is a good song. The vibes are there, just the execution kinda fell flat. That, and jesus christ take away the tin can from Lars.

I like Metallica but they're not my favorite. I do however think they earned the title of best metal band with how many hits they have and how recognizable they are in the music industry. Simply put, they've earned their fame. My brother is a huge fan of them so I learned more about them from him. Songs I like:

Sanitarium
Lepper Messiah
King Nothing
One
No Remorse
Battery
Wherever I May Roam
For Whom the Bell Tolls
Ride the Lightning
Trapped Under Ice
Escape (underrated even if Metallica hates it)
Creeping Death

Even though I'm a metalhead, I rarely listen to Metallica, but yes I like it, only the first three albums.
