For that you could try Jgenesis, it's not like Mesen but has a GUI and emulates all that Sega consoles.

It's my go to for NES and SNES. Going to have to try it for others. Hoping for Genesis/32X/CD support or an emulator with the same GUI as Mesen.

Ares is pretty good for the Sega consoles. Btw thanks for the Jgenesis mention, didn't know about.
Well I'm not sure but I think Jgenesis has a bit more compatibility, has more settings for audio and video (except shaders, but I don't use them usually), and the remapping of controls seems a bit more comfortable to me.

The author contributed a fix for Mega Drive's LFO (Low Frequency Oscillator) to Ares, and ClownMDemu author implemented a sound filter for his own emulator based on jsgroth's research.

I am testing it right now and i like it. How do i enable fullscreen?

For fullscreen use F9, if you want to change the hotkeys, go to Inputs, then Hotkeys.

I was testing Ares again after a long time and wow, I forgot how bad it's performance is, at least on my Ryzen 3200g, it has problems with Sega CD, 32x, and even Game Boy Advance. SNES, Genesis/Mega Drive I think were good, except the last one gave me a few tiny slowdowns.

It's not bad, but there's two major features I wish were implemented in Genesis emulators.

First is start the game in full screen as an option. The reason I like Mesen's way of handling it is because I have the emulator launch in full screen and can scroll my mouse to get to the menu. SNES9x is easy too since hitting escape toggles the menu bar.

The second is having a better way to switch controllers from 3 button to 6 button using the same controller. This one might require a bit more coding to implement properly. But modern controllers all use the Xbox/Playstation/Switch Pro layout with four face buttons and 4 shoulder buttons. The input mapping 1 and 2 on JGenesis seemed to be confused as to what I was doing. For Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat, I'd want the controls set for 6 button and for a game like Streets of Rage I like having (SNES naming) Y as special, B attack, A jump. Having to configure that every time is a chore.

Yeah, thats an issue i always have with sega genesis emulators, At leas with retroarch you can save configs for each game if you want.
