There is an element of magic to be found within a game's OST. If the game play can be likened to its bones. The art direction its skin, and the functionality its musculature. You might call the sound track its very soul. A work of art that stands apart wholly on its own while still defining every single moment the game itself. I'd like to hear some of the better sound tracks you've heard. Few notable ones I've experienced myself.

Devil May Cry 3 - Devils Never Cry

Klonoa 2 - Stepping Wind

The Terminator (Sega CD) Soundtrack - Destinations Unknown

Jade Cocoon - The Blue Cocoon Master

King's Field The Ancient City OST - Dark Reality (Extended)

Eternal Ring Full Soundtrack/ost

There’s a reason that whenever I mention, when ANYBODY mentions Daytona USA, we get a bunch of people saying DAYYTONAAAAAAA~🎶

Secondly, if you ever wanted to hear a Bomberman G-funk beat, here you go. It’s incredible.

Thirdly, fittingly, we have the ending to Sonic 3. It’s the only one of the Genesis games to not have a compilation ending theme, it would later be revealed to be a demo track for the Micheal Jackson song “Stranger in Moscow”, and it’s just a really good song to end off a hard day.

Fourth, here’s a modern game using “fakebit” in the best possible way. It’s a song that’s so incredibly motivational. The minigame it’s from, Demon Tower, is one of the most painfully hard things I’ve ever completed as a gamer (in stark contrast to the rest of Night in the Woods, which is a story based game). This is the kind of “you’re almost there, but it’s not over yet” kind of song that we all need every once in a while.

Finally, if you ever wanted to hear what FM synthesis can do for a game, you play Alisia Dragoon. I love this game, though I know it’s not beloved by everyone, but EVERYBODY has to respect that soundtrack.

Man, we probably got like 10 versions of this thread..

One of them should PROBABLY be pinned. Give people a place to go to post great game music, you know?

Haha, were it only in my power to do so!

It would be easy to keep this stuff organized if any of the mods took a few minutes and actually did it.

In this trying time, may I offer you a rave inside a game cartridge from 1994?

Absolutely incredible. Nobody ever talks about any song from this game aside from Mind’s Eye and that’s a darn shame. Honorable mentions go to Ultra Yak, which may be the single angriest sounding song I’ve ever heard. But this theme, Digital Terror, is beautiful. Such incredible break beats and sample work.

Sorry for the feedback. There’s very few resources for me to find the cartridge version of this game’s soundtrack. A shame, since I prefer the cartridge version of this song to the arranged version from the official soundtrack release.

I would also like to shoutout the genre of music that I affectionately call: “drum and bass for running from evil robots and aliens”

The soundtracks to Final Fantasy Tactics and Chrono Cross live rent-free in my heart.

Based on the selection, may I make a suggestion
I know the game combines 5 other layers unto this and creates a full song, but I rather enjoy listening to just this part, by itself.

okay here me out, you are playing this chill but kind of generic rpg with a very upbeat and loud ost that makes you lower the volume a tad, cool music (but nothing remarkable).
you going through some menus and a gallery section that you throught had no music, but while searching for something in it, a peep of a sound does come through and greatly catches your attention.
you up the volume, this is what you found.

I needed some DS tunes today.

Now's my time to shine:
First of all, a rare PS1/Saturn Jewel:
This thing made me vibe on those industrial corridors.
Now, here comes the wanzer!
Really great for a climactic boss battle.
And finishing up with two favorites of mine:
Really beautiful for a walk in the night.
And something to remember that beautiful past we all wished to live in.
