Megaman-Battle-Chip-Challenge-USA-ChipControlMod-v1.1.0.jpg

Source: https://www.romhacking.net/hacks/6915/ Version: 1.1.0 Hack features: Mega Man Battle Chip Challenge is a game featuring notoriously RNG-heavy, automated gameplay. During battle, the game will choose your chips for you completely at random, leaving you with very little control over the outcome of the battle. Essentially, you have to set up your Program Deck in such a way that it’s likely to beat the opponent, and then just pray to RNGesus that your Navi doesn’t select the same path of dead chips each turn. This mod changes the battle system to add a Custom Screen-like interface during battle, similar to the […]

This game triggers my flashback of completing Chaud's route by save scumming to get the chip path I wanted. Nah...I did win the game when I picked Enzan (Chaud) but really....the RNG made the game beyond frustrating as soon as you get to late game against Custom Navi. Some NetNavi like Roll frustrates you the most since her Navi skill is slapping you with her belt horns and then recovering 60 HP afterward. You face her early game too in one of the location. NetNavi with attack that affect your Battle Chip's HP like Ring had a tendency to get the Battle Chip path that directly affect your chip's HP and her Electric Ring attack also affect your Chip's HP

It took me a week to finish Chaud route (I was in elementary years playing this game in GBA emulator) but then give up the game eventually after I tried to finish other operator's route. Poor Turboman and Megaman easily deleted early game as soon as they face Roll.

I'll actually say this version of the game is really fun, BUT as a deckbuilder instead of an action-rpg like the mainline games. Without automated control making the game essentially a slot machine, being able to think up combos against particular enemies and being able to pull them off without the game just going "lmao, no" makes it so much funner, but I will admit it the majority of the game IS picking your chips and deciding which ones to use against who, actually selecting the chips isn't actually that much fun, though having to make do when one of them gets destroyed and your combo gets interrupted does mean it's not an entirely mindless activity.

So if you're looking for more battle network this won't scratch the itch, but if you're looking for a non-roguelite deckbuilder this shit's pretty goooood.
