We no longer have a discord server. Thanks to everyone who was part of it.

TL;DR a user said something in that Discord that resulted in him getting banned while also having other users tell him to go off himself. Without getting banned themselves.
There was a scene until Spike showed up to do the banning himself, called the Discord Mods out for not doing that, and then eventually there was a power struggle that resulted in the entire server getting nuked.

Ironically, the user that started the whole debacle got himself banned from RGT for being an anti-DEI headcase until eventually going off against the mods. It was a total shitshow.

Shouldn't be an issue... as long as you make it clear that it isn't affiliated with us in any way, shape or form.

While I see nothing inherently wrong with that, please be sure to clarify that your server is not officially associated with RetroGameTalk (RGT).

They had one but it failed because of bad moderators and bad users.

I been part of 4 discords server for about 5-6 years and it works fine but to make it work modrators should not be power hungry morons that bans every one they don´t agree with. Also need moderators that can ban the instant some user is very hateful.


For exmpale I recent joined a server for Ragnarok online 3 but it´s so bloody stupid I got 5 min time out for using the word crap. They argued over the game wing F2P and that it´s gonna be PW2 only.

In which I said who gives a crap " Because I know the F word any where today equal ban" If the game is good who cares if it´s F2P.

So they gave me 5 min time out for the word crap saying we should keep the chat friendly and what not. That is shitty moderation and I seen other that been even worse banning you for not aliening with the left or right wings but im not even fracking American so I don´t care.

I will say Discord is good and can be good as long as the moderators are not morons and the users learn to keep their dumb shit for them self.

I was born in '79 lol had a friend show me multi-comm BBS, Nesticle n Genecyst [RIP the latter] - started with a 1200 baud modem then went 14.4 before gettin cable-modem.... emus in mid-90's for 8-bit alone felt like a magical land of endless possibility pried open in those days
