This game was my first contact to the plumber …but on my ATARI 2600.
This immediately made me think of the commercial for the Atari 2600 version.

"Maaaario, where aaaaaare youuuu!?!?"

This version is gorgeous. Will be my all time favorite together with Donkey Kong.

Infidelity already made a 60hz patch for this game... The catch is his patch is buried inside his MMC5 Super Mario All-Stars romhack for Super Mario Bros 3 NES. He made that patch years and years ago...
So basically you start Mario Bros 3 and play a two player battle?

edit: the rom hacking page for the NES Mario Alstars explains how to start Mario Bros on the title screen

"To access Mario Bros, on the game select screen, hold A and press Up on Super Mario Bros."

So, what's the difference between this version and the original NES port?
The Enemy Sequences aka How to Play but Minimized, Gameplay Improved especially in the possibility of moving in air, some Graphic & Level redesign, etc.

The European version of the game it is closer to the arcade and with gameplay improvements that make for a more fun gaming experience although at the cost that the game only supports 50Hz.
