I'm talking about this. If you were to do that with this I'd think you'd put a dent in the floor and catch collateral damage with the shrapnel that flew off of it. Its bottom is a pretty substantial metal plate.

Falling apart you say? The scene is middle aged or older. They spend more time in a drug store line for pain medication than they do playing a match with somebody. Taking naps has become more important than rollback netcode.

Everyone's getting older and those reflexes are waning for them. This is why they became content creators and ambassadors for these companies nowadays. I'm in my mid-30's and I'm not about to get stressed out playing online against someone with just as much time on their hands and doing this 24/7 vs. me who just wants to kill some time before bed.

Fighting games won't thrive without networking, beit at arcades, tournaments, or online social networks.

Games are usually imbalanced and tiered trash with new meters and gimmicks slapped on. Marvel 2 was a lightning strike, where the gimmicky tiered trash heap was so overwhelming and complex that a scene formed up around it trying to figure out and salvage a meta-game from it. Similar in being unconventional and fucked up to Smash, which Nintendo had no real idea what to do with as the fans took it and ran with it themselves.

The downfall of any fighting game is gated off player base. Everything needs to be cross platform compatible. Even freebie sales models aren't helping a lot of games take off. None of these games are platform selling flagship killer apps anymore.

Sega is dead since arcades went dead, Crapcom is experimenting and remastering old shit, SNK shat forth COTW into the universe and caused unmeasurable suffering. Half of the organized FGC scenes are full of e-sports shitheads with small dick energy, trying to chase sponsorships.

Nothing will completely fall apart, nothing will improve either. Sales will go up on Mortal Kombat and sales will never be significant for any Guilty Gear/BB entry, easily overshadowed by licensed weeaboo pandering trash like DBZ, Naruto, OnePiece

Virtua Fighter has been dialed in to give us a quarter century of universally balanced design, near perfection, and it's slowly being broken by janky RGG remakes nerfing things. Nobody ever gave a shit about it outside of Japan anyway, and it needs Discord to survive.

TL;DR: Buy me Bonestorm or go to hell!

The E-Sports bubble burst years ago and nobody wants to put big money in to the FGC. Riot tried but 2XKO flopped. Everyone on the outside thinks they're broke and/or sexual pests. Just play the games with you like with your friends.

EVO is still a thing, it has not gone anywhere. Certain parts of esports are gone, but tournaments are still being held or streamed lived.

Even then, it's just many cesspools of annoying or digusting people and communities that say their, messages the loudest, rather than policing their own guidlines. I don't understand the thought process to keep up an appearance to look healthy, even though most of the best players are going hide into their own groups because of how dogshit everyone else is.

Combo Breaker just happened a few weeks ago, and is an alternative and much better event for those who don't like EVO, nor their new owners.

Wait, what's wrong with SF6?
It's doing well and its players numbers explode with each character.

It's not without its flaws (monetisation, NPC graphics, dripfeeding) but I like it.
