Hi this is my first post and I was wondering if there is a potential chance that any of the games in the repo could have malware and other malicious things with them. Sorry for asking this question I’m just trying to improve my experience with cybersecurity stuff thank you for taking the time to respond to this and please forgive if I don’t respond right away. Since I posted this late in the evening have a great day everyone.

While any digital file, like the kind from here, can have malware or other malicious code injected into it, it's highly unlikely that anything here would contain such. As far as I am aware, each file is scanned before being hosted and is clean before being released to the user base. I could be wrong about that, but to my knowledge, no one has ever gotten a computer virus or anything to the like from anything hosted here.

If you are genuinely that worried, it might be best to ask one of the mods to be 100% certain.

Personally, I have used many files from here as well. Regardless, I scan everything and have never found anything problematic from any file I have gotten here.

Just dont download this one

Like anything else from the internet, the odds are low, but never zero. For the most part, the files are checked pretty extensively, and there's a tight community on here with lots of people downloading lots of different stuff. Bad actors are pretty unlikely, and if there was something malicious, it'd be found pretty quickly. Stuff with lots of downloads and comments is very, very likely safe.

That being said, it's good practice to scan what you download— Virustotal is a great site, and Microsoft Defender honestly works great.

roms and iso used by emulators are read-only files, it means they don't make changes in your system.

If the risk exist, it would be the fan-games that run as pc games, tagged as "windows". But this is a serious place and uploaders here are not gta6 buyers, so i think the content here can be trusted.

When downloading emulators and such, make sure that you take it only in the developer website, never in google first results and such.
If you using mobile, it is a bit more complicated, as playstore is full of scam and malware. you can be safe there, but need more caution than normal.

Did any of your scanners trigger and/or give you any sort of alarm while browsing the site? I assure you that files are checked extensively before going "live".
I’ve been hearing on the internet about info stealers and such and became a tinsy bit paranoid. So was just for my sake of mind to ask about the whole process when it comes to Roms here and how it goes. Thanks again for responding:)
