If you don't know me which Is the norm, I make playthroughs/Longplays vid and somehow I'm still unknown In that area. (I do make an occasional gameplay vid, used to be the oppisite.)

But I'm having a bit of a problem, trying to pick out a game that would make for an Interesting longplay video, but It's hard for me to describe what would make a game Interesting for a longplay video. Recently I have been doing some on a random whim, here Is a list of the last ten I done. (Not Icluding a campaign for Uneral that was made by someone else.)

  • Freak Out/Stertch Panic
  • Super Farm
  • Runabout 2
  • Runabout / Felony 11-79
  • Roccio's Quest
  • Disney's Hercules
  • Infernax (Solo Co-op on good/evil routes)
  • Rugrats: The Search for Reptar
  • Nikita: The Mystery of the Hidden Treasure
  • Ninaj Gaiden Shadow
Completely random when you think about It. So I'm looking for some suggestions, currently I have been considering Bad Day LA (PC) and Future Cop L.A.P.D (PS1)

I would like to reply to these words: I don't know which details makes (or do not make) a videogame interesting for a longplay. I often search for full-game videos/longplays or walkthrough-playlists before playing something new to me, or when I can't decide what to play next, or when I see some screenshot and I want to know what the game is about. I don't care about spoilers, and seeing different sections of gameplay helps me understand if that game is something I like (or I don't). I almost never watch video-reviews; about reviews, I prefer to read the articles, but even then watching gameplay is important to decide.

What I mean is: an interesting game for a longplay is that very game I'm looking for at that time :) So I think any game can be interesting, because I think there will always be someone who will look for that particular game someday, so maybe the more obscure the game the better, because most famous titles have already lot of videos (and if there's only one longplay of a title and maybe just a couple of videos of a few minutes about it, people who will find the long video will be glad they were able to find it).

All of this does not consider the money a Youtuber could earn from their videos, so I'm just speaking as a viewer; if seen from that point-of-view, choosing a game will probably be more difficult and maybe a youtuber who makes money out of it has to keep in mind what their subscribers want to see and many other things.

Sorry for the "rant" and best wishes for your videos and for deciding what to play next!

p.s. I clicked on your YT link, I think I never watched anything on your channel but I'm not into retrogaming (my most retro system has been ps2, but I sold it years ago)

I guess I forgot to point out, I don't monitize my videos by choice. More of a legitimate reason I get pissed off when some reviewer who does monitize decides to steal my videos withotu bothering to ask, and eitherevade or "I have the right to, furry.", and then pan me as the bad guy when I have a problem with theft.

Although the last part of your message makes me wonder why you're at a Retro Gaming site, out of curiosity.

For what makes a game Interesting, still hard for me to describe, so here are several ways I could explain It:
  • Does the game's charm feel unique?
  • Is the jank just something to see to believe?
  • Is It unusually good for what what It Is like a movie/show tie In game?
  • Is It a budget game that Is surprisingly wild?
  • Is It an edutainment game made for kids with at least one part that makes you question your understanding of "made for kids"
  • Is It just flat out WTF without the Intention of being WTF?
  • It's a game of the 2k0s riding the wave of edgy raunchy humor that no respectable triple-a studio would touch today?
  • Are all the characters non-human? Example: Allf urries, all aliens, maybe both, etc. Does not count If It's animals.
  • Is It absurdly hard yet has content you just want to see more.
  • Is It more fun to break than to play normally?

I started visiting this site because of psp and ds games (I owned a lot of physical ones for these two consoles, but I also tried some other that I was not sure of or that was too expensive or rare). I also owned a Vita and physical games (not a huge collection, but I was proud of it!); I sold everyhting some time ago for personal reasons, recently I bought again a used Vita and now I'm here mostly because of fan-translation. So not really "retro" as nes or gameboy as I've seen on your channel, even if maybe psp and ds are already considered retro today!

I heavily advise a game you’re already familiar with so the longplay would be straight to the point

Might I suggest an idea, like create a video out of the old arcade era games, like the introduction to Laser Pointer games, Cadillacs & Dinosaurs, Metal Slug, Shadow Dancer, Tombi, King of Fighters, Mortal Kombat, Tekken 3, WWF etc. Games that gave reason to hang out around arcades back in the day, how many friendships were born or shattered, how kids used their pocket money on these, stuff like that.
The possibilities are quiet endless.
