Long Songs

Stella by Kashiwa Daisuke is the first "long" song that I ever remember listening to. A friend/classmate of mine in summer school who showed me how to properly use Last.fm and the impact of having good IEMs/Headphones were, showed me this song.

I haven't listened to it in awhile, but I remember it like it was yesterday.

It's also the second song that I ever scrobbled on Last.fm with the first being Sunadokei by L'Arc En Ciel (based song btw)

I will say, I'm quite a sucker for long songs. I always tend to find myself recording for long periods of time whenever I play my guitar or sing as well.

They always feel like long drawn out periods of thought. I love seeing where my imagination takes me. Usually I tend to wane mellow or wax nostalgic. These types of songs always roll back into the warm afterglow of a setting summer sun during dusk for me.

Idk if that makes any sense to any of y'all xD

We need 'understandable' and 'cozy' reactions for this post.

In 1997 these guys took surveys about people's taste in music and made a short song with all of the traits that people liked most, and a long song with the lowest ranking choices. If you like ridiculous weird nonsense, it's amazing.

I envy you. several songs play in my mind at baffLing non-existent time-signatures n genres that make even meh go 'wtf?? am I supposed to duplicate THAT?!?!' a cacophonic mess that becomes a haven when it 'decides' to lvL out n write the framework for a song that I backflip-cartwheeL over to meh instruments n studio aPPs n record it before it leaves my memory like a rude asshole ::barve-boy

There are a few long compositions I've heard in my life.

While most tracks here are rock, Prog Rock respectively which is known for these types of tracks, like Supper's Ready from Genesis and so on, I will submit two or three favorites in electronic music.

Originally New Castle Legions is "just" a 2 minute track in beatmania IIDX 21 SPADA with a long version of 4 minutes. Yet, much later, the artist "Dirty Androids" opted to create basically a prog tech version of the track that goes through several different sounds and styles instilling a feeling of something like a epic quest somewhere. If not for it's length, and long intro I would be listening it to more often but to me it requires a bit more thought than being just in background.

If progressive psytrance is a thing, Infected Mushroom has done it likely few times but nothing goes through a quest of different sounds and compositions in same way as Flamingo does. It is weird and whimsical path to take a walk through.

Also originally a 2 minute beatmania song in IIDX 13 DISTORTED, the long version is much more progressive with longer quiet start. Just the crescendo at later half is enough of a master piece in it's own yet it is only 40 seconds in almost 9 minute track.

Hey, I even made 2/3 about video game music there too how about that huh? Well, technically, at least.
