Chapter Two: The Day the Laptop Died
Hello, again, reader!
Last time I wrote, I still hadn't got to the point. But I'm getting there! Every story needs a build up, and build it up I shall!
So, where was I? Oh, yeah...my 'Laptop Corvette'...
---
The Dell 'Mobile Workstation' m4500 was the 'Corvette' of laptops, when it was new (and I was young). And I loved that 'Laptop Corvette'! It had a 21" screen, backlit keyboard, nVidia (i forget exactly) 1GB GPU (it was a big GPU for a laptop back then, stop laughing XD)
Most importantly, that laptop was the tinkerer's dream. One screw is literally all it took to remove the bottom cover. From there, one could literally upgrade everything possible. CPU, RAM, Storage (including mSATA), almost everything (except the GPU, because laptops...)
Honestly, it's my fault. I knew it ran hot, espcially after the i7 upgrade. I should have taken better care of the cooling.
I digress.
"She's dead, Jim"
---
And then there was only the Pi. The runt.
(700-watt PCs just aren't practical, off-grid!) (Q_Q)
Be patient, reader! I swear, I'm getting there!
Stay tuned, same bat-time, same bat-channel!
After these messages, we'll be right back!
