The Yakuza movie has to be my favorite. I re-watch it every once in a while when I need a laugh.
It's so over the top and ridiculous in the best possible way. To me It's somewhat reminiscent of Dead or Alive (another Takashi Miike film) although far less extreme.

If this is the movie I'm thinking of, it has an amazing opening/theme song. I remember rewatching the trailer over and over when it was first coming out because I was such a big fan. I'm kinda glad I never ended up watching it though, haha.

I guess it's technically based off of the graphic novel, but the video game follows a lot of the stuff that's in the movie and I think the movie played a role in the game's success. At this point it's a multi-media thing with even an anime series

this is pretty much the Majima movie. :D
