Is there an official list of games that don't require the wii remote?


Furthermore: what's the best config for Dolphin to properly simulate the wiimote in the normal vertical mode since there are some games I want to play without one (like Sonic & the Black Knight or even MadWorld)?

I haven't emulated the Wii in ages but iirc Dolphin config defaults to either the right stick on your controller or your mouse and both work fine all things considered.

This is what Dolphin does with my Xbox360 controller:

I'm pretty sure those are the default settings and not something I did on my own. You might want to mess around with Dead Zone settings if your controller is suffering from stick drift issues.

If you're using a real softmodded Wii you can use RVLoader. It has support for GC2Wiimote, which allows for Wii games to be played with Gamecube controllers.

This requires replacing the boot menu with RVLoader's menu, alongside a USB stick with its files. You can boot to Wii menu from there, including when the USB stick is missing. You can uninstall it when you don't want it anymore.
