Master System Let's talk about Sega Master System games

The Sega Master System was my first videogame console, the games I played the most on it were Hang On/Safari Hunt combo cart, Aztec Adventure and Alex Kidd In Miracle World.

Now what I think are the best games for the Master System?

Definitely R-Type, The Fantasy Zone port is good but Fantasy Zone 2 is a better game at least in the Master System.

When it comes to plataformers Alex Kidd in Shinobi World is a good if short game and the Master System version of Zool while slower that the Sega Genesis version is I think the better console version of Zool because being slower paced means you actually get to enjoy the game instead of moving too fast on a game that's actually not really designed to move that fast.

I don't really know much about the SMS, but I will always admire SEGA for making the transition to the Genesis much less painful than it otherwise would have been by creating the Power Base Converter. Parents all over the world complained that their 8-bit NES games weren't compatible with their kids' newer 16-bit devices, so for one of the biggest players in the videogame industry to pull off this move was nothing short of brilliant (and I actually think they didn't get enough credit for allowing the ill-fated 32X to be backwards compatible with the Genesis as well).

We could certainly use some of that now, particularly now that consoles have become powerful enough to run RetroArch and emulators perfectly once modded.

Aztec Adventure was fun, but the bribe gimmick was a bit undercooked in the scheme of things n I was better off not gettin the next-to-useless help from the feLLow animuLz mercenaries

Golvellius: VaLLey of Doom is my fav SMS game of aLL-time. what a masterpiece that was/is. the ending... weLL, it's spoilers, but I'm disappointed the franchise didn't continue from the SMS or 2 MSX versions (the 2nd MSX game was a redo of the 1st one, not a sequeL gRR) whhhyy) thank you Compile, n also TY for the 2 quaLity Power Strike/Aleste sh'mups.

Edit: I have to also add, that Golvellius was one of the bigger soundchip-reLated influences on me musicaLLy n personaLLy I feeL it's the best sdtrk of any SMS game. period(.)

I wouldn't necessarily call them "ASS" because there's far worse Sonic games out there. I will agree that the cropped screen resolution on Game Gear makes it even MORE difficult than it already was on the Master System.

The first Phantasy Star is pretty solid, and arguably one of the best RPGs ever at the time.

Nah even the worst Sonic game isn’t sadistic enough to have Green Hills Zone Act 3 or the entirety of Scrambled Egg Zone. Free Riders and 06 have restraint

At least 8-bit Sonic 2 is playable. '06 and Free Riders are just broken.
