Let's talk about biomimicry

Also known as Biomimetics, they are technological elements inspired by nature (such as the beak of a kingfincher inspiring the front tip of the Shinkansen).

I find it both fascinating and futuristic when we use eons of evolution for species for our modern technologies so we could produce better working and more efficient elements. Also it just looks cool in general.

Do you have any other example to showcase? Either in real life or even in game.

I mean most technology as we know it is a form of biomimicry in some form, but probably one of the most famous were early submarines, they were called "iron whales" for a reason.

what a fascinating area of engineering i was completely unawares of until reading this thread. i have no examples to share but i find this shit fascinating.

perhaps similarly as you have just done to me, i may introduce you to the concept of cymatics: the visualization of sound waves in cross sections. Think covering the surface of a speaker with sand and playing loud bass noises to observe the pattern of the sand.

you know those moments where youre at someones house or the office or something and in the downtime you just look at and read whatevers around you? i remember once picking up a pack of moony diapers and reading that they apparently modelled their diapers after honey combs for the most absorbtion while being lightweight though its probably just marketing bs
