Leon will probably be in the new Resident Evil 9 Requiem game

Resident evil died with Resident evil 6. 7,8,9 are Capcom´s take on silent hill. We should be thankful we at least get remakes on the games we love while the new games carter to Gen Z.

They don´t give a fuck about old RE fans like me so I will not not give a fuck about their new games.

Only reason they would add in Leon or Chris or Jill is to tell us old fans hey look it´s still Resident evil even if it´s not.

I can kind of see an argument for specifically the pre-release demos of RE7 having a lot of similarities to Silent Hill, but Village?
I mean, as MrYesterday and Elwiwi pointed out, in a lot of ways that game is pretty much RE4, but smaller, first-person and (far as I'm concerned) worse. I get that the change in perspective and tone is odd, but it's not like the series is all that set in stone.

Plenty of oldtimers like me still miss the fixed camera angle style for example and then there was also another huge tonal shift between RE4 and RE5/RE6, far as I'm concerned.
For what it's worth I am definitely interested in what I've seen of 9, even though I didn't really like Village all that much.

That said, I could not care less about former protagnonists like Leon returning. I'd go so far as to say that I'd prefer them not to return.
I thought 7 benefitted from being removed from (most) of the series' baggage and an overabundance of fanservice tends to be a detriment to my personal enjoyment of modern games.

I love resident evil because it always been a cheesy zombie survival with bad voice acting. While people today demand Resident evil to be a horror game which it never was it was a zombie survival game with monsters but never horror.

And if you check the story of RE7 it´s identical to Silent hill 2s story.

If I wanted Silent hill I would play Silent hill. Gen Z is so damn horny for horror games that getting a cheesy zombie survival today is hard.

Yeah and if you look at Resident evil 1-6 they their story is just cheesy evil company doing evil things.
The the first part I hate with RE7-8 is making it first person.

As I said it´s not resident evil any more than it share the same name. Just as Final fantasy Spirit with in is Final fantasy only by name.

Im not saying RE 7-8 are bad games they are just not what made me love Resident evil. They are good game but they are not resident evil what so ever.

Capcom just slapped the name on just so they can be sure it sells.

I don't know. I know a couple of people who think Resident Evil died with the RE4 with all the dramatic changes to gameplay and atmosphere (more action than horror and survival).
