I've finally circled around to giving "Labyrinth of the Demon King" a shot. I'm 5-6 hours in and honestly I'm really enjoying it! I've had some minor gameplay annoyances (most intentional, some not), but the tone, atmosphere, and sound design are just so spot on. It really moves and feels like a lost-great of PS2 horror! I'm in love, tbh.

Anybody played this? Did we enjoy it? I've heard it's a lot like "King's Field", none of which I've played. Would that be a good thing to try, if I enjoy the rest of my time in this dank-ass castle?

A new game has been added to my list.

I only played a little bit of Labyrinth of the Demon King (I was waiting for some patches), but the influence is obvious and I definitely recommend checking out King's Field.

Combat is simpler than Labyrinth. You'll be strafing and kiting alot. Controls can be awkward with camera and strafing on shoulder buttons but you'll get used to it. It's also not a horror game but it does have amazing atmosphere.

I'd start with King's Field: The Ancient City on PS2. To me, it's the best in the series. Each one was better than the last.

As a side note, Shadow Tower is also a similar series.

Perfect. Thank you for the recommendations! I'll check out Shadow Tower as well.

I reviewd it like a week after it came out.

Play Lunacid, if you like it, then try some of the PS2 King's Fields, and Baroque for the PS1.

Looks awesome, thanks for the shoutout, I’ll def look into this sometime.

ps2 baroque has some QoL adjustments and cna be played in 1st person or 3rd person. I'd recommend that over it just for the smoother experience.

Wow it has Eternal Ring, Silent Hill and Baroque vibe; what an interesting mix!!! lol
