So... Donkey Kong 64 is a game I could never properly emulate due to Rare's almost paranoid approach to piracy, which made them throw so much code and chips on top the base game as to completely wreck it on emulators.

Because of that, I could barely get past the title screen, so let me ask you: do you have to sit through the rap every time you fire up the game? I know Nintendo made that epic intro unskippable, but is it always so? Even after you have made a save? I can imagine that getting very annoying in the long run. It's a great song and all, but I can't fathom it playing every single time without you being able to skip it.

Please tell me that ain't so XD

Thanks, RGT :)

Have you tried using a different emulator?

Yeah, but options on Android are very limited. Plus, as mentioned above, the amount of custom code present in the game would make getting the right combination of plugins to work into a grueling nightmare.

I remember being able to skip it, yeah.
I can check later on my 64 just to make sure, though.

It's skippable.

A modern emulator such as RMG should run this game with no problems. (I used Project 64 3.0 to play it a few years ago and it ran fine but I don't recommend this emulator)

If you're getting your kids to play DK64 you're my hero

If they’re 100%ing it, his kids will have quite the lengthy summer ::winkfelix

Yo I was close for never touching the game

Also, Chunky Kong doesn't exist and you've been gaslit by the Government man. So, uh, yeah, *smacks lips* *rubs belly* *tips fedora* *shits pants* I'M STILL RIGHT.

I played it, and honestly I wasn't impressed. If you ask me, DKC1-3, Returns and Tropical Freeze is where it's at.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to enjoy Donkey Kong 64. The gameplay is extremely nuanced, and without a solid grasp of platforming physics most of the mechanics will go over a causal gamer's head.

Too lazy to do the whole pasta sorry

I can't tell if you are being sarcastic or not, haha.

Yeah being serious now the gameplay is not deep (unless you're a speedrunner) and it is padded.

This games has its strengths in the aesthetics and characterization department, but at the end of the day if you don't vibe with it you're not gonna enjoy the gameplay either.

I don't hate colectathons design wise, but I think Banjo does it better.

I didn't express myself very well in the way I put it. And I agree, Banjo-Kazooie's game design is a sight to behold.

I actually laughed when you say DK64's gameplay was deep, so I think the intent was pretty clear, I just found myself second-guessing that conclusion the next minute, haha.
