I don't know but I think it still works. Maybe there won't be many players, but at least there is some. The performance might vary though for most emulators
 
Unless the protocol has been massively rewritten, I wouldn't bother, to be honest. Please do research thoroughly before attempting to use it.
 
It was cool twenty years ago, when there weren't many options. It's not focused on particular games, so I can't imagine finding many players for a specific title unless you bring them yourself. (No idea as to the performance or anything, I can't find anyone talking about it.)
