Kaiju No. 8

I guess you can call me a fan...

I've seen through maybe episode 8, and then dropped it; It's when he's being grilled about being a Kaiju and attacked relentlessly, Nevermind he saved them all.

Certain things i just don't care that much for. Being called a monster and treated as a turncoat when he's just wanting to help, is one of them.

i know nothing about this series; but from my storytelling experience, it makes some sense.
sometimes an enemy will stage a fake attack and have someone show up to help one group and start to gain their acceptance. basically putting a mole in the ranks. they can send intel on the plans of the group, usually the good guys and the villains can strategize around their plans and know where they are going to be. this happens in final fantasy 4 at the end where golbez mind controls kain and has him take the final crystal back to golbez. why do the dirty work himself when the heroes will do it willingly.
in this comic, the other characters would probably be wary of someone who has the same powers as their enemy, and are probably thinking along this line of thought.
it could backfire spectacularly on them by unintentionally forcing the character in question to join the enemy ranks.

No no, let me give some context.
The MC can turn into a Kaiju, but he joins a Kaiju Hunting Task Force so when he gets caught he's thrown into a lab for study. Later the director challenges him to a fight to prove a point, that is if the MC can control his transformation, he almost lost it during the fight but in the end he proved he could be trusted.

sounds like that one bit from attack on titan. it still goes along with what i wrote. it's not unusual for one group to be on guard with a person who shares abilities or powers as their enemy. it's usually the best course of action to be safe than sorry.

Not far off. But he's a patriot and loves his country and just wants to help, and he is getting torn down.

Sides the other Kaiju don't need to hide among humans to cause problems, attacking is enough to destroy cities.

well, i did only just learn that this series existed. i used my knowledge of storytelling and the couple of clue that you left to deduce what might have been going on.

Mhmm.. I thought 'treating him like a turncoat' would be enough to explain he's being attacked but doesn't deserve it. I had a short overview on someone's timeline of the general story so far.

Haven't finished the anime. The whole 'prove you're not a kaiju' session just turned me off somewhere about Ep 8.

Storyline in anime goes: Ep 1 saves kid, goes to hospital after getting injured, swallows a tiny kaiju
Ep 2-3 escapes hospital, joins task force where he'd underpowered except when being a kaiju. Saves trainee group against random kaiju attack
4-6 big fight against other kaiju, another kaiju engineering monsters gets involved, then flees
6-8 wyvern-like kaijus who want to kamakazee and destroy the area making him expose himself.
He gets taken into custody... That's about all i know.

yeah, that explained it, but i was going over the motivation for it. we know that the main character is a good guy. but not everyone in the show is going to know that. it might be a ruse as far as they are concerned.

True... but he could easily not help multiple times and let people die... and he'd never have gotten suspicious or caught. So to his friends he's the real deal.

Only the General and higher ups suspect him, and only because he exposed himself.

he will eventually win them over.

I'm caught up in the manga but I can't wait for season 2 of the anime.

I've been sticking to the anime. Partially because I enjoy it, but also because my wife absolutely loves the manga and I think she enjoys me being behind her so she can show it to me and get my reactions and things. I do like it quite a bit, though.
