JRPG's that you still can play after main story completition?

it's a rarity, but i think i have encountered a couple back then that offered that possibility, to continue to play even after the main story was complete

but really i'm having hard times to remember the names atm, do you remember someone?
Grandia 2 was one iirc?

Bit of a dicey choice because I would argue the 'epilogue' is really necessary for the story to be complete, but it takes place after the main threat is gone, has meaty gameplay, and is much lower stakes. Erm. maybe. For eleven year old me the stakes were suddenly much higher.

Some of the Star Ocean games have post-game dungeons. You can get through the main game content easily enough, but the post game requires you to go a little sicko mode with the item creation system.

I've always found it a bit underwhelming how in most JRPGS and Zelda games you don't have a post game where you can do stuff that takes place after the main story and see how beating the final boss made a difference. Having to do most of the side-content right before the big climactic final epic showdown is kinda weird.

I know Tales of Graces f (an action rpg, but I think it's close enough) not only has an epilogue that's 30+ hours of gameplay but you can also unlock a super-boss gauntlet called the Zhonecage. Dragon Quest 9 also has a bunch of post game as well.

Yakuza: Like a Dragon has the Final Millennium Tower dungeon, which has some super hard fights including the obligatory BS Amon boss fight.

Yeah, really good post game content, but those dungeons are really hard, need to grind a lot to get past them.

Enchanted Arms had something similar, but i cannot remember if you could access to the tower also after the main story ending; i think i still have the saves on real 360, next time i'll boot it up i'll check it again

I just thought up a couple more. There's Lufia 2's Ancient Cave which I recall was kinda rouge-like since you always reset to level 1 upon entry and you can only carry over gear you find in blue chests in it. The Disgaea games also had a ton of post game content as well, some of which dwarfs the main story content.

DQ5 also has a TnT board, but yeah. It wasn't until 8 that a lot more happened. Even then, 9 (DS game) is just a lot of dungeons and grinding against bosses so they reach level 99.
Pokémon Silver and Gold has an entire postgame in Kanto, but I'm pretty sure everyone already knows that.
Dark Spire and all the Etrian Odyssey games have some, though they're all dungeon crawlers and not JRPGs proper.
The World Ends With You has an extra day, though it's mostly a goofy story.
Soul Nomad has the evil path, if that counts.

If you count raising sims as JRPGs, then Monkey Puncher and the Monster Ranchers have quite a bit of extra stuff.

I keep thinking with every new iteration final fantasy will allow me to cruise through the world at least i had this thought of running around FF9 as Zidane after beating the game Idk why FF9 exactly....maybe the disc sizes? Too bad it wasn't true , as far as i know i haven't played one with this feature but it would be awesome if one final fantasy game does

the dot hack games allow you to keep playing after beating the game. the only thing left to do at the very end is item collecting and filling out the ryu books of 1000.
final fantasy 4 advance and 5 advance had post game dungeons. 4 had a super boss at the end of it too. ff2 has a post game story to play through on the gba and psp versions.
that's all i have at the moment.

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, all of them. they all have post game story content and you can also keep doing randomly generated missions in the dungeons

Almost every Kingdom Hearts game. Granted it's not exactly after story completion, but more like post-game right before the final boss. KH2 Final Mix and KH3 ReMind are the most notable, with the latter actually being post-story.

Well, I finished the 7th dragon 2020 and I can tell you that it is worth it and I am in the middle of 2020-2 as games they are good and recommendable but with the fact that for the postgame you have to meet the requirement of killing all the dragons, and if you have postponed it a bit

yeah, it is boring. you meet only one character from roots, and at that point; any character that you recruit is just pointless. you would have a fully customized party at that point suited to your playstyle.
i guess that tabby was a fan favorite from the cartoon; which is why she was included. i didn't see the show, so her appearing didn't mean much too me.
i'd say the 4 part set of games had a better post game dungeon; with it being the longest and harder than the main final dungeon. and it wraps up a plotline from the story, instead of hinting at stuff that needed to be tied up.
