His most recent long disappearance is what triggers your character to go out on their own adventure. He's apparently gone for so long that when you meet another character, Lynn, who refers to your dad as her dad, you actually believe that he had an illegitimate child and started another family while he was gone. This turns out to be a misunderstanding but it's a pretty wild plot turn for a gameboy game. You actually find your dad in the second world of the game, but he disguises himself with a mask and says he totally not your dad. It seems like he's a bit unsure how to address you considering how long he's been gone for. [ATTACH type="full" size="129x335"]81155[/ATTACH] [ATTACH type="full" size="32x32"]81156[/ATTACH] You eventually find out that he's actually a member of the Guardians, a group that's trying to save the world from god-like beings. He joins you officially as your dad for a time but sacrifices himself to save Lynn after explaining he isn't her actual father. It's actually a bit sad when he dies. He later gets revived in the last part of the game, but without knowing this, the loss feels very impactful. Most of the characters in FFL2 are pretty barebones, but the devs put real effort into Dad's plot arc. After you beat the game, he goes to sneak out of the window again for another adventure. Instead of letting him go, your mom steps into the room and says she's going too. The entire family just goes out of the back window of the house. FFL2 Dad is one of my favorite dads in an RPG. It's kind of a shame that many people don't know about his story due to the obtuse nature and difficulty of the game he's in. [/QUOTE]
