And wow it's impressive how much things have changed since I was a teen. Level design alone has gotten so much better than what I remember, with so many of those older ones just being brutal, and having horrendous camera angles.

Peach's Fury and Mario's Vacation Course being great short and sweet times, with 25 and 30 Stars to get respectively. Both are more like Bowser's Fury, though smaller obviously, with you just exploring a series of obstacle courses in a non-linear fashion. Shout out to Peach's Fury for adding some Odyssey movement options like the dive.

I just finished the hack Eureka, which is a much longer one. 100 Stars this time, and it really did feel like "more SM64" but in a good way. I liked courses, and while there was some camera shenanigans, not nearly as much I feel like there can be in OG SM64.

I've now lost control entirely, and have downloaded most of the well regarded hacks from the last couple years lol. I know have a collection of about 40 hacks.

Decades Later is a must play too. I know B3313 is probably out of the zeitgeist at this point, but its worth a visit. Never heard of Eureka though; I'll try that out.

Outside of SM64, Super Mario Eclipse is an amazing overhaul of Sunshine. https://gamebanana.com/mods/536309

Have you played Mario 64 Co-opDX? It's regular Mario 64, but modded with different characters to play as, new gimmicks such as Day/Night cycle and online play.

Yeah, Decades Later is probably the next one I'm gonna play. B3313 I'm not really into the whole "made with beta" ideas/assets thing, or the creepypasta/schoolyard rumor stuff. Just feels like it's made to be an "experience" and not an actually fun time to play.

Eclipse I am quite interested, though that did wane a bit when I heard you have to 100% the base Sunshine first before really getting access to the major Eclipse content. Pre-release I thought it was just gonna be an overhaul mod a la a lot of the SM64 hacks.

Not really. The only PC port version of SM64 I play is Super Mario 64 Plus. I don't really play games multiplayer, so I've basically ignored that version of the PC port.
