Is there something wrong with me that I dislike Chainsaw Man?

People don't have the exact same genes that make up their personality and even if they had due to memory difference and then chemical reaction difference they would have different personality and therefore different tastes which is also valid for identical twins. That's when X is popular doesn't mean you would like it per se. But when something is popular we can make an educated guess on why:

1- When X is the first example of what new generation kids experience it's usually what is popular for them. I can imagine this anime getting popular in school when older ones wasn't in their generation and just because it was new and advertized on social media it gained popularity among them.

2- It's not really hidden reason that this anime is popular among perverts. This a big reason of its popularity due to a teen BS service scene, situations and characters which is why lots of new animes are popular for.

3- You talked like Fujimoto's work was popular but I Googled and as far as I know Fujimoto seems like a guy that his works were not popular until this anime. But yet if he has niche cult fans no wonder they would like every shit Fujimoto shits lol.

4- However the anime is not so different in "wow" way but it has "ok enough" difference that can make sense why people who watched tons of anime may like it. Otherwise the way whole anime is emo teen mentality and pervert shit no wonder it would be popular.

5- I don't have kids, not even a married person but it doesn't prevent parents in my life to come to me for advice due to "what they know about me". So as far as I know among new animes and the animes parents complain about that I didn't even hear before this anime is in banned anime list for parents for a reason I agree. They ask me about some anime website I never heard and how to ban "porn animes" on it lol. I was like "how you know it's not porn website?" and they say "it's popular and not all stuff has porn stuff". Animes was "new generation cartoon" for parents to have their kid watch so the parents can get rest lol but existence of anime became something way worse than bothering about allowing ok video games for your kids these days. Imagine parents in my generation and newer generation sitting down watching these BS animes for in case there is porn shit before they allow their kids to watch it. It make me glad I was never a parent so I won't experience my stupid ass kid comes to me and ask permission to watch "Chainsaw Man" because "it's cool" and I watch the toilet scene and lecture my kid why most popular shit in the world is what you shouldn't do lol. What the society came to!!! And just because "I know me technology stuff" parents come to me for this shit. American and Japanese shit gives me a headache, it make me wanna ban internet to these countries in my country lol.

My opinion about the anime: Didn't like it at all. I didn't watch much anime but I can safely say it's one of the worst anime I watched, it doesn't even have the sense of "I may have disliked this anime but I know why so many people would like it" aspect. For example I dislike Bleach but as far as I know about people it does make sense why they would like it but can't say the same for this anime at all. I don't think there is something to watch in it. I can imagine for little kids it would be like watching washing machine and for horny people it has the same effect on them as anything looks like a naked person, even the random piss on the floor. Instead of the anime they like particular 2 characters for sexual reasons that triggers Sigmund Freud in his graves and that's all about it in the anime lolol.

I see a shift in anime as an industry that instead of interesting themes, relatable human experiences and deep characters they started to go for sexualized characters and this is what matters for the industry and the audience as if people are supposed to be only made of a body and what matters is their body. Back then animes when they had gore they would have naked body that didn't make things sexual per se, then soft porn animes got popular that ordinary animes still had clear difference between them. Now seemingly random animes necessarily have sexual shit that porn and sanity are in a blurred line to beget insane addiction for sexuality as if that is what is sane. Sex does sell after all but it's only valid for insane people, sane people runs away from insanity.

For easy money they are after making kids horny AF more than puberty can do so they won't bother much on coming up with something watchable for a normal person. So you make animes "not cartoon" so it's not ok for kids, it's something you wouldn't want your teen kid watch, it's cringy to watch when you are adult. Then you turn anime into something really sick perverts would watch but when you do so countries may wanna ban anime so you gotta think of it, Japan lol. This is one of the aspects of how the world sells you insanity and when you get sick they also sell you its cure. As a result so many insane new generation kids grows up and sets what is the new normal. Welcome to the new world order when people think they will die if they don't masturbate to some anime character in every hour and they talk about their BS fetish in random public places like they talking about an ordinary hobby of collecting cute plushes without any sense of common sense whatsoever lolol. After watching lots of new animes I can safely say animes became "new versions of what is old" with more sexual BS and that's all about it. That's why it make me think disliking new animes and specifically this anime is a sign that you are an okay person!!! lol

like who cares if they only watched those common shows that doesnt mean they cant find something that you are not seeing and love the show for it.

I think my issue with a lot of newer anime is a lack of mature storytelling. Frieren has themes that resonate with me as an adult and Psycho Pass season 1 has some thought provoking stuff that actually still seems relevant in 2025. I want more anime like that

First of all I want to say that there's nothing wrong if you dislike Chainsaw Man, you don't have to like every work out there and this is speaking from someone who really isn't that big on the series. Personally speaking, I really don't like the series that much outside of the later portion of the first arc but it's not like the worst thing I've seen, it's not for my taste and that's fine. I'll at least give it one thing, that it's at least fun enough to enjoy even if it's not the best thing out there.

Part 1 is just ok in manga but part 2 really shat the bed. I definitely dislike the anime for acting like it's 2deep4u and I'm pretty sure the director belong in the second group that worship Fujimoto.

Can I ask (I dont want to make any grudge) what part of the setting feels cool to you? Because for me, there’s nothing really new about it, and I don’t see why it feels unique to so many people.

Contracts with demons to use them as weapons, but also characters like Reze and Power that are demons themselves. I didn't say its unique or anything, its probably overused in anime and manga, but I don't watch anime and don't read manga so to me it was new. Chainsaw Man was an exception that for some reason picked my interest, which almost never happens.

Honestly.... as someone who watches quite a bit of anime, I can enjoy and sit through some garbage anime, believe you me. But... I barely made it through half the series, I just found it meh and kind of boring.

The animation was nice, but the story was so so. And no, if you don't like something, you don't and as stated previously. Not everyone is going to like everything. Hell, I used to love Sailor Moon. Now I can't even stand the show, and I was a pretty hardcore Moonie when I was young.

So no, not liking what the crowd likes isn't bad or means something is wrong with you. It just means you have your own opinions and likes.
