It's the high seas

Literally

Map shows the whitish/light blue parts connecting some islands to continents and such; they're the land bridges that appear during real harsh Ice Ages (when ocean water recedes due to more water freezing at the poles and such)

The blue parts are deep waters that don't freeze much, during warmer climates, these are the high seas that gives sea dawgs so much terror during storms

So dawg, sail the high seas!
