is Resident Evil 5 safe to play?

Yes it has a virus but it can only effect the virtual people in the game who only exist in the resident evil universe. As long as you are not made of 0 and 1 everything is okie, gucci and no problemi. But I advise you not to connect your brain into the device you wanna play the game on to be safe lolol.

*ahem* I googled and people bumped into false positive (false alarm) anti-virus BS:

The thing is there is no "virus code", anti-virus only detects codes that also viruses and whatnot uses. They are especially very sensitive to codes that affect "fundamental of your OS" like kernel of Windows operating system (I really put it very simply). They are also can be very sensitive to "unusual pattern" of how a program may make a change in regedit (um something like operation system settings). In the end naturally lots of stuff can be false positive.

For example unusual internet activity the program may do can trigger false positive as a trojan because the program may have a code that checks updates by connecting to its server. Or whatever code used to display an image may trigger "malware" false positive. No anti-virus program properly judge if a program intent to harm the system or not. In reality codes are like a knife, you may use knife to cut your bread or kill someone, it depends on how you use it. Therefore anti-virus programs rather "ban knives" instead of able to judge what might the knife may be used for, but they do try to detect codes that uses other codes that can harm the system. They just cannot properly 100% be sure if a code is virus or something, it's more like 50/50.

The only time anti-virus programs can actually be sure if a program has a virus and whatnot is when it looks for known virus and whatnot because these known bad codes have particular same patterns so there is no way they are good codes. In the end it's up to the user to risk it or not.

Where did you hear it has malware? It's 100% fine as long as you don't get it from somewhere sketchy.

If you get it from Steam, it's fine. Beware that there are some issues with stability, and you'll have some crashes unless you install a mod. I can find it. Just one moment.

Here's the mod. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=864823595

I updated my initial message after I googled.

I have no idea how the game works but may be its DRM or something trigger false positive.

For example Windows 10's anti-virus BS really works like a helicopter granma so I wouldn't trust it. If it could it would even delete Jesus lol.

So that means I cannot play this game 😞

Well there are many ways to turn off Windows's cyber granma™ anti-virus program. There are lots of guides about it around. Or you gotta play the game in another way then.

For example I completely deleted that BS but you don't have to, there are easy ways to even turn it off.

After looking over the Enigma threads, the question really boils down to: do you care?

Do you care that a giant mega corporation is potentially adding a DRM to an old ass game? Do you want to support that kind of behavior? Are you also into tech enough to understand the problems with kernel-level anticheat and why something like that being used as a DRM is a fundamental issue?

If it's all sort of going over your head, I think you'd be fine to go play. It's just an ethics concern at this point. Capcom is a giant mega corporation where if something does happen, you'd be in the class action lawsuit. Just go for it.

Are you running into problems with playing? Is that what you need help with?

I think ethical concern of Windows 10/11 is in the way to play the game by not allowing itself to chill and just deleting game files ayy lmao.

Yeah, but that just comes with the territory at this point. Windows has been a shit show since Windows 8 and has steadily gone downhill. Until a suitable game-friendly OS (hopefully SteamOS) hits the market and can provide a proper replacement for the kind of desktop environment people need to play games, this stuff will forever just be slipping through the cracks.

More and more companies are realizing with the success of Denuvo that people really do not care about intrusive software running alongside their games as long as they can hear bing bing wahoo 1UP 1UP noises.
I just want to know is this game safe to play or not?
You can go play it, friend. :)

It's safe, no worries

Buuuuut if you really wanna make your system safe then never connect it to internet and never use a program that's not written by you. Hell, build your own computer and your OS then lol. Microsoft sell your information around by pulling your information from OS you use. You may never know, despite no anti-virus reaction which programs infected your system with viruses. Americans and Chinese using their electronic devices, programs, social medias and operating systems to pull your information and classify you for whatever purpose they have. Especially after 9/11 America gave itself "legal self-entitlement" to reach to your private life in digital aspects so they can read your private social media posts and learn what you do on computer thanks to Apple and Microsoft.

No OS and anti-virus can do shit when a hacker wanna hack, as this is why databases has to be constantly updated for known "bad codes" intent to harm your system and how people unintentionally cause security weakness in their programs. Sometimes it happens to Discord, sometimes Google Chrome. Imagine whole internet cables are a water pipe and the "virus" is shit water and your computer is your home. If hacker wanna send "shit water" into your home they can. Not even Jesus can help on that lol.

In the end Resident Evil 5 is actually one of trivially safe stuff you can do on your PC when people constantly risks their systems in their daily-life without even knowing about it because they have no idea about all these. They just only care what some anti-virus result says as if it only depend on that lol. You may never know who infected your PC and watching you from your camera!!!! lololol

sadly I am not an expert how to use OS. Plus, I don't know how OS is working😔

When Ubisoft removed Denuvo from their old games like Rocksmith 2014, a fit girl just repacked the DRM free version. Not even a crack needed.

Same thing here. I wouldn't touch a Denuvo or an Enigma game with a ten foot pole nowadays, even sandboxed in linux. If you dont like it, dont pay for it. Simple as.

I mean... it depends on where you're getting it from and what you're playing it on.

If you're playing in on a PS3 from the disc, then it goes without saying that it won't have a virus on it.
If you get it from FitGirl, it also goes without saying that it won't have a virus on it.

But there are countless places where it will have a virus on it though.

I didn't know that this game has a virus except the zombies in the game . Yes you can play it safely . If this game had a real virus then the other Resident Evil games would have to have half a virus too but that is not true . Don’t always believe everything you read on the Internet most of it is nonsense !

Absolutely. I have never once gotten a bad game from FitGirl, aside from one that I assume when she repacked it left a file out <don’t remember what the game was now>, but that notwithstanding, I would trust FitGirl more than Steam, honestly.

Now, if you get something from say "Absolutelyfreegamesnoviruspromisehugsandkisses.com"<i don't know if that is a real url please don't try it> yeah, you are probably going to need some penicillin for the PC in question.

See, BS like this is why I have a spare gaming PC. Yes, I know it's not an option for everyone, not saying it is. But for the games I like that have this kind of BS added to them, I hit the seven digital seas, and yo-ho indeed.

The spare PC I use dual-boot with Linux and Windows. Some games just will not run under Proton as of me typing this, so for those, I honestly don't care if they have malware or viruses because that PC never sees the internet. It fucks the Windows partition over? Oh well, I'll just reinstall—no big loss.

But that is neither here nor there, I wouldn't worry about it so much. These mega corps already have your information anyway, so it's not like it matters.

looooool, I've read the op's post and I couldn't stop laughing for a few minutes, until I read all the rest. I thought it was a joke.

Just download the game from another place or buy through a key reseller shop, it's damn cheap for god's sake :D

Well what I do is personal stuff is on a Linux build that's not connected to the internet, only connected to my intranet network due to my technological wishes. For video games I have a separate Windows 10 PC that's useful for me to play whatever video games I want (back then I bought it to play Witcher 3). I also have a iMac because Windows OS and PCs suck at running creative works like rendering and music producing. Honestly, Microsoft rubbish is only "good" because it's cheap and ok for ordinary office work lol. Then it makes it convenient for such stuff to be common and cheap. Just because of its market popularity people focus on Microsoft BS but it's more like they put nitro and wings to a horse cart instead of using a jet plane lolol.

You gotta have separate devices for separate uses. My personal phone has no way to form any wireless connection but it can make call and accept SMS. Only for the stuff makes smartphone apps mandatory I have a smartphone that I avoid doing serious personal stuff like connecting to my bank account. Just for important stuff I have a Windows PC separate from my gaming PC just so I can connect to government, legal and bank-related websites when I have to for my personal life that I only connect it when I will use it for such purposes. I prefer to do such stuff in physical world instead of digital rubbish. Using the same device for everything is a bad idea.
