I'm starting to watch one piece and I asked a friend about one pace, and he told me that one pace "actually cuts stuff that doesnt seem relevant but actually is" and that it feels less like an adventure and such, but I've seen lots of people saying one pace is better cuz it fixes pacing issues (hence the name). My friend has watched up to circa episode 750 fyi

It is not necessarily a bad idea to watch One Pace but it depends on your priorities: Choose the original for its full emotional impact and narrative build up and choose One Pace for a more condensed manga accurate and time efficient viewing experience. One Pace cuts out filler and slow pacing which saves significant time and especially in the post time skip arcs but this can also mean sacrificing some of the original anime's more emotional or extended scenes.

I mean if you really want the "true" experience you're probably just better off reading the manga. It would honestly be a quicker way of catching up as well, if that's a concern of yours, assuming you read one volume a day at a minimum, you can easily get fully caught up in about 3-4 months.

It's a really bad idea to watch the One Piece anime, period. There is a reason that a remake of the anime has been announced before the manga has even finished. One Piece is a series where the manga is legendarily good yet the anime is legendarily bad.
One Pace only fixes one problem, namely the bad pacing, but the anime has WAY more problems, from non-canon stuff that gets added all the time to actual inconsistencies, etc.
With how long it is, you're just throwing away a huge chunk of your life for a worst experience.

Here's what you do if you wanna get in One Piece right now:
- ignore everything you've heard about OP; it's a series with an astonishingly vocal and ignorant fanbase who downright doesn't read the source material; this is wholly due to its popularity, not to any fault of its own (it's actually the greatest story ever told)
- go to sites like this one
- read the colored version: it's amazing and it covers 90% of the manga, you can read the last 10% in B&W
- make sure it's the fan-translated one, the official one has stupid translation quirks
- read slowly: OP is the kind of story where small background details from years ago end up playing a huge role later on;
- after finishing an arc, you can watch the cool parts of the anime: fights, reveals, twists, etc. (don't ever bother with whole episodes, the OP story just doesn't work that well as an anime simply because there is too much exposition)
- NEVER read YouTube comments/X threads/etc. about OP until you're caught up with the manga; if you come across (apparent) plot holes while reading, DO NOT GOOGLE anything, just keep reading until you're caught up
- DO NOT LOOK UP ANY OP WIKI UNTIL YOU'RE CAUGHT UP

If you reeeally want to watch the anime instead of reading the manga, I'd recommend One Pace.

The One Piece anime is unbearable to me because of the pacing issues. To be honest, I think even One Pace still has pacing issues. But at the same time, it's like PPF said, the anime has many other issues. One Pace tries to solve some of them, but it feels a little off sometimes.

If you are someone that can watch some long dragged out episodes or scenes with no problems, maybe watching the original anime might not be too bad after all.

But people's opinions varies a lot. You could watch the original anime and love it, or you could hate it and decide to read the manga or One Pace instead.

As others have said, the anime has a good chunk of issues and the pacing can give you whiplash at times. One pace is a better experience for pacing but can leave out some fairly important/neat details, making the overall world building element feel a bit more hollow than intended I guess. The manga is gonna be your best bet for quality and pacing overall.

Sorry if I ended up running in circles with my response. In resume:

If you don't mind some bad pacing and some filler, watch the original anime, you could skip the filler episodes, but sometimes you get some filler stuff mentioned here or there in some non filler episodes.

If you can't stand bad pacing and filler, try giving One Pace a try, It solves some of the problems of the original anime that you might not enjoy.

If you don't mind not having the anime viewing experience in the first place, read the manga!

I heard it from one of my friend who is too into animes and he is cosplay freak. He loves One Pace just because of it's "true to how manga is". Meaning, for the anime they had to stretch the shit and fill it with BS because manga was slower than the anime run, so it means One Pace aims for intented One Piece experience while One Piece anime is for people who think the manga is too less to eat so they are that hungry. Too bad back in my day One Pace didn't exist so I watched the whole anime and the thing is I enjoyed fillers, so as Naruto until like 800s or 900's episode that had "WTF" long filler shit that was barely clear what the fuck is going. Since jokes dried and the anime turned into "I'm getting old and wanna experience whatever sexual fetish humanity has to offer" I just dropped the shit and don't watch it since 5 years or so lol.

There's zero reason to watch one pace. Watch the original anime or read the manga.
If you worry you'll waste your time with filler, you'll still waste your time without it.
If you worry about the pacing, the manga have that problem too.

I haven't seen One Pace so I can't comment it too much, but my dad watched up through Dressrosa and he was steadily getting more annoyed with the amount of flashbacks, pregnant pauses, and reaction face shots. So I looked it up and One Pace just in the Dressrosa arc, saved 1506 minutes. That's kind of a lot.
