Is Dynasty Warriors 8XL worth it? (50 USD)

About to play Dynasty Warriors 5, a well received classic.
I'm skipping DW9, just doesn't seem my style.


But is DW8XL worth it coming from 5?
I've heard the story is decent enough. What about the difficulty? I do like a challenge. Is there enough content?
Not interested in the DLC whatsoever.

Yeah I know Koei is pretty stingy when it comes to discount, still worth the wait.
