Hello RGT team and staff and hello and greetings to all.

I would like to suggest an increase in upload limit as I seen its restricted only to 2MBs which is very little if there is a technical reason or a size reason I completely understand but I would like to put this thought out there maybe in the future to include a bigger upload limit like discord 8 MBs

What exactly Is a external hosting service?
A site you go to to upload your files and then share them.

Google, Mega and gofile, being a few.

I have another post with a decent list of this.

Trying to find a list of suggested/approved hosting sites. Though i'm sure it would include: megaupload, mega.nz, Dropbox, pixeldrain, gofile, googledrive are probably among them.

Make/have an account, upload and then share the link.

Now i do agree with you, larger uploads would be nice, but it's the extreme limits that prevent a bunch of stuff getting offloaded that just takes up too much space for what it's worth. I don't have a breakdown of hosting costs, but from various sources (Clownfish, Spike, etc) it can be substantial, especially if you're talking multimedia like Video Games or Movies. (Music and books can be very small on the other hand, depending on format and level of compression).

I hate this sort of attaching media using a third party website it usually gets lost in few years not optimal at all

I agree. Broken links galore.

If Mega wasn't so expensive i'd probably pay for more than the free 20Gb, and then offer downloads to tonnes of stuff and no need to delete unless i had to. But that's the way it is. Use said service semi-regularly and it will stick around. (I usually use Mega as a download client to make sure they don't disappear before i get them). Long as you don't get struck you can keep really important shared links for a long time.

Orrrr... just move to torrentting.... Long as there's a seed it is accessible.

Depends on the video and the length. I can likely recode to AV1 and low resolution/bitrate and it will look halfway decent. You can fit a lot in 2Mb depending on the video, especially if it's a lecture or PowerPoint.

Splitting the file into multiple parts is too annoying to set up and upload. I did a 2-3 part example of Pokemon and the 1minute SD video really wasn't worth it.

Yup it's possible to upload a video few seconds long or a gif but anything other than that isn't possible directly.

Actually speaking on videos... could just link to youtube videos... So upload to youtube. Those won't be disappearing unless Google doesn't like you.

Example: LTT uses this when they are testing video playback and bandwidth tests on hardware...

Also, isn't everything we upload <pics/gifs/ect> stored on the server @Spike?
Uploading large files, 3-8 megs would EAT the space quickly.

Unless its not, not sure how its setup.
