In This Thread I Will Finally Complete One Of The Greatest JRPG's Know To Man For The First Time (FF7)

Hey, my name is IX (9) and I'm new to forums.

I am a pretty big fan of RPG's and JRPG's but rarely finish them but I am sick and tired of hearing how good FFVII is, and I don't mean that it isn't good in fact I have played both remakes and will say.. I'm a huge fan! (well ofc the remakes are different but you get the point...) Any way what I'm saying is that for my first true to form JRPG I will complete FINAL FANTASY VII for the PlayStation 1. But to actually incentivize myself to complete it I will be giving myself a time limit of 10 days. That would be from now (February 4th, 2025) to Valentines Day (February 14th, 2025) I have actually already put in some playtime (only like 4-5 hours)

Lol yeah when I started the game on the first it felt so weird because everything is going so much faster but honestly I have been loving what I've played so far although Aerith isn't as cute in the original like she was in the remake

Well, the graphics aren't the strong suit, but they were decent for 1997. Actually, I'd argue that the overworld characters looked bad even for 97 standards. They look like little lego characters with Popeye arms.

The cutscenes, though. The cutscenes were what sold the game.

Really you think so? I actually really like the character models but yea they do look like Lego characters lol

Idk if I said this or not or if this even matters but I am playing the PSP port of the game btw the PSOne classics version I think its actually called, reason being that I can actually play more if I play at home AND at school. I have Sophomore Seminar where we can literally do anything because the teacher just doesn't care and a Study Hall. as well with that on Wednesdays and Thursdays at my school we have these things called block days where we have 80 minute classes rather than 40 minutes like normal so I can get way more progress while I have some off time

My first impression wasn't good cause I thought it was a downgrade on the high quality pixel art of FF3/6 but, to be fair, it grew on me after a while.

FF7 has a super dope art style and even games it was releasing alongside didn't look like it. The models can be crude but I also think they look adorable and express just enough emotion to help scenes across. I suppose I'm biased though because that generation of consoles was my first so I see nothing but charm in them

I recently found my strategy guides from 1997, a Brady one and a Versus one. Still has the receipt from back then, and I wrote down my window color numbers in case I play through it again. Been kicking around the idea of doing one of those "perfect run" files where you get 99 of everything and whatnot, but maybe I'll live through the OP vicariously and that will scratch the itch for me.
