in the late 80's, early 90's i played an arcade game about a robot. it was a very difficult vertical shooter. the robot looked like mazinger or goldrake or daitarn. it's not the one from mazinger it was much older!

Reminds me of Rapid Hero/Arcadia but I don't think that game was an existing property.

Could also be a Macross game, there's a lot of those and a few ended up on Arcade

You can go to arcade@home and look through their screenshots of mame games. It will take a while to go through them but that's how I've found most of the old games I was looking for.
