So...due to over 9,000 employees from every company owned by Xbox being completely laid off...

And because of Phil Spencer being outright evil and replacing everyone with AI slop...

Should I no longer own an Xbox Series X?

I'm worried if I continue owning an Xbox console...

Everyone will start jumping to conclusions and will start thinking I'm continuing to support the Xbox brand.

The thing is...

Owning an Xbox Series X is the only way to play the best console versions of certain games such as "Rayman Origins," "Sonic Unleashed," "Ultra Street Fighter IV," "Sonic & Sega All Stars Racing Transformed," "Duck Tales Remastered," etc.

It's also the only way to play tons of games with the best performance possible.

Also...GTA VI is basically the only reason at this point a lot of people are keeping their Series X consoles.

I WILL make one thing clear...

I'm NOT going to buy or support their next console that's coming out in the far off future.

Especially after hearing about all these unfair layoffs.

No, you are not making those awful decisions nor are you supporting the company which did by rewarding them with your money. You had the console before any of that happened and bought it because of its catalog... That's no statement, just a declaration that you enjoy playing games.

It's like if I were to snap my copy FIFA 98: Road To The World Cup in half just because of the monster EA would later grow into.

People get laid off everyday, this is not the only company that does it.

They'll do that anyway.
Should I no longer own an Xbox Series X?
No, you are free to own whatever console you want. You buying one console unit doesnt affect anything.

You already bought it, its not like you can ask for a refund because you disagree with their business. It would be senseless waste of your money to get rid of your console over this. If you feel so strongly don't buy any new consoles or anymore games for it but keep what you have now.

This is how I feel. I do not support what they have become and any news I hear about Xbox never seems to be good. I feel like it was all downhill since the Xbox 360, and I don't still don't understand their whole console naming scheme.

Yeah, I was never an xbox kid so heck if I know what the new console for the brand is these days haha.

Don't buy any game and console, just make them fall!!!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 lol

Did you fire them? No.
Did you decide to do the massive layoffs? No.
Did you already pay for the console? Yes.
Have you sunk money into games? Yes.
Should you say "Fuck them" and go full pirate with the console? Fuck yes!

Don't feel bad for the people getting fired. They are most likely as bad if not worse than the people firing them. You don't owe them a thing. People get fired en masse from companies every day.

You only hear about this stuff because it's related to video games and is a hot topic right now. If this were some banking company or another non-gaming company, unless you were involved in them like Toyota or Bank of America Ect.. you wouldn't know or hear a thing about it unless someone went on a mass murder spree because of it at that company.

*Edit*
I know not everyone who got fired is going to be a bad person, but you show me 100 employees who got laid off from Microsoft, and I'll show you 90 assholes and 10 yes men or women and brownnosers.

Honestly I've never thought about this kind of moral decisions when playing ::sadkirby
Maybe I'm a shallow person, but when I wanted to play some titles I've bought the consoles (if possible, of course), I haven't read about about these companies behave with the employees; for example, right now I won't buy a Switch 2 because of its high price and because I'm not okay about downloading a whole game after buying it physical, I'm not really into what Nintendo may do right or wrong...

I agree with other people above; you have already paid for the console and the games, and you're enjoying playing them on that console. I think you should not create yourself problems: if you don't want to support them anymore, just don't buy anything else in future. If you REALLY don't want that console anymore, you can sell it and make some money to buy other games from companies you like more, just be sure you won't regret it if you feel like you want to replay those games.

Well especially don't pay for Nintendo because they use your money to sue random people and put them in jail. You wouldn't wanna fund the worst global terror organization that operates like a mafia and even bullies governments... just sayin' lol.

Do you care about all the unregulated child labor that made all of your clothes and kitchen utensils, etc? If I started thinking of all the shitty practices used to make all the things that I've bought I would probably be naked in the wild.

Get a Playstation and feel the same way about Sony laying off employees, canceling multitude of projects, etc.

Get a Nintendo and get mad at their abusive business practices and relentless pricing.

Get a PC, waste $800 on a GPU and get cucked by Nvidia the next year with their newly advanced RTX that does the same performance for half the price. And sell all your personal data to the multitude of launchers and account you need to play games.

I could go on for fucking eternity naming companies, brands, etc.

You can just keep it and play something on GamePass, that's what I do with mine ::sailor-embarrassed

You don't need to own an Xbox anymore. You can sell that shit to get yourself a head start into the world of PC gaming. Plus, you get the additional bonus of having all kinds of emulators on your side.

Well you may still continue to use Xbox by just stealing it and also its games instead of buying so thus you ain't support them anymore but you can play the games!! Me so smartz me fear meself sometimes!!! lolol

Get a PC, and when you install Windows on it... think about what you said.
NO ESCAPE

Morality doesn't affect my purchasing decisions. If you won't buy something Xbox related because they're laying off employees and replacing them with AI, you're not going to be buying much in the future since most corporations are shifting towards AI in some capacity. While I'm not a fan of it, it's inevitable. You can complain about it, but it'll do no good, sadly. That's where the world's heading. It won't have a positive effect on humanity. It'll lead to less people being able to find work, it'll lead to less productive and more apathetic populations, and it'll eventually lead to something like Universal Basic Income becoming necessary.

But as for the morality argument, everything you own, from your clothes, to your electronics, etc., were made using immoral practices. The rechargeable batteries in your devices, for example, were made with child slave labor. How many people are going to ditch their cell phones? The world is a sordid, often disgusting place, but we trade morality for affordability. And given the way things are going, the rising cost of living, the AI revolution, etc., people are going to be looking for the best deals, not where their products are made and how they were made.

I was thinking something like this about all the things we bought everyday, not only special purchases like a console; luckily someone else has found the right words ::thumbsupwario

Here's one piece of advice I'll give: stop worrying so much about what other people think about you; just play what you want to play and have fun!
