In ICO, you can find a secret weapon, the mace, by completing an optional puzzle. The mace is way stronger than all the other weapons, rivaling the mandatory one you use in the final battle.
In New Game Plus, the mace is replaced with a lightsaber, which is more than twice as powerful. It has abysmally low reach when on your own, but if you're holding hands with the girl it grows like 8 times longer.

You see, in this game you can send your monster in an errantry through the region to train, learn more techniques and fight rogue monsters for their bounty. The S Rank Monster of the Parepare Jungle, King Ape had a bug where he would only appear while using a B Rank Monster and having unlocked the Magic Banana in the shop, dissapearing completely once the next item in the shop is unlocked. This is not even the only monster you can miss on due to a hidden time limit.
