hiiii i hope you're well!!
i'm a comic artist, i work for my school's newspaper doing gag strips and i work on more story and character focused stuff in my free time. i always want to post my work here or other places online so people can see it, but my files always end up being too big. is there a good website i can use to upload my work to share with others? it just seems like there's a file size limit on everything, but all of my scans are super high dpi because i want to be able to see all the details of my art. :((

Hi! I don't make comics but I host a personal site on Github Pages. From there, you can host the files themselves on your repository (I don't think there's a file limit and if there is one then you can still upload a lot imo). From there you can link to those files on your site and they will show up. There's also Neocities but you'd have to pay for storage, but it seems a lot of sites get traction from there if you care about exposure. I think there are still filehosters that might let you upload a lot. (Dropbox, Catbox, etc.)

I hope this was helpful

That's so cool. I'm training myself to be good enough at drawing to write my comic one day. I hope you have success.

this is super helpful, i'm gonna look into github pages!!

I don't know if anything's charged since, but DeviantArt (and Tumblr, under #homemadecomic) should be good starting points, because you can then hotlink them around and they should be able to show up.

ohhh yeah i completely forgot deviantart existed.. i'll look into all of those, too. i tried the website artstation but my files were too big for it for some reason so i hope those don't have that problem

I get the feeling that DeviantArt has been shunned and quietly thrown aside because of both the toxicity of some of its community and its weird embracing of AI, but I have never seen it impose any sort of file limit to its users -- in fact, someone I used to follow uploaded on 4K from a free account without any issues.

yeah i just looked and it's so weird that they encourage ai, but like, yeah it might end up being what i go with

I looked it up on google and they mention sites like Webtoon, Tapas or GlobalComix.

There's also the option to post it on DeviantArt or Instagram if its a short comic. I follow a few artists who post their comics on Instagram and it works for them. Good luck.

Newgrounds
Definitely this, OP give Newgrounds a shot! Totally forgot it existed (I know selfhosting can take a lot of time especially when you wanna update but Newgrounds has a ton of artists and a good community from the looks of it.)

Joyful to see someone with the same passion as me. I plan to make my own comics ( both digital and physical) and sell a few of them. If you ever want to or if any of you want to try the same I’d suggest using something like gumroad . By the way now that we’re on the topic guess I’ll show you some of you new guys my first comic I’m still currently working on. If you guys wanna help out or have any ideas of what I should add next feel free to :)

Isn't Newgrounds for edgelords and gross toilet humor? At least that's what it was for back in my day.

They have relatively tammed down, now that that kind of humor got stuck in Youtube the place is more like a Gaming/ Flash animation themed deviantart, that said they got fricky art so thread carefully

Way back in the past. Now it's fairly professional and one of the few places that puts AI trash down where it belongs, in the o-file.
