PS2 I got a question I think my ps2 is magic

My PS2 seems to not be region locked or maybe I just have no clue what Im talking about.
I have no mod chip or free mcboot my playstation is bone friggin stock.
I have a PS2 slim 70000 NTSC J but I'm able to play any game I slap in there it's worked with every region I've tried.
From what I've found it shouldn't be able to do that. Idk though just wondering if anyone knows anything about magic region free playstations?

Okay so from what I've found out a modded ps2 would either need free mcboot or a mod chip and I know for sure I don't have one of those.
So I set out on my epic quest of sailing the deadly seas of the guts of a ps2 and there's nothing out of the ordinary I checked everywhere. I'm gonna keep looking into it. I'll update if I find anything

I've already reassembled it but I'll get back to it and send pics and stuff I'll also send a video of it booting up games and stuff

It's possible that someone has flashed it with custom firmware, though honestly, I've not really heard of that on a PS2, even the ones with HDD upgrades usually have software sort of launched over the top of the stock stuff inside your PS2.

Is it possible that the region lockout is just as simple as breaking a pin on a specific chip. IIRC, the UK PAL NES has a region lockout that you can break by snapping a single contact, then you can play any region of games.

THe really complex thing, from what I understand,d is the fact that to be region free you usually have to modify the laser, or at least, you did on some models of PS2. Then again, It's been a long time since I looked into these things, so take all of this with a huuuuuge pinch of salt.

okay so I'm taking it apart again and the first time I took it apart I didn't have the right size screwdriver for the back of the inside where that big silver piece is so i cant take it off so I just said frigg it and put my flashlight up to one side and looked through the other like really closely looked all through as much as I could and there's nothing there that I'm pretty sure I'd see if there was a modchip or something idk though but I'll still provide pictures of everything I can. Idk pretty cool though also this has no point to any of this but I though it was kind of interesting my PS2 will play PS2 and PS1 games but for PS1 it has to be Japan region for it to run but it does perfectly fine and read music cd's aswell but will not play movies or play burnt ps2 games that I patch with ESR but I also dont really know if you need free mcboot or something for that I'm like 2 billion % sure its cause of the laser but eh, idk it's 3am and I'm tired of messing with this thing I'm outta here.
