I'm diving into the early history of Chinese computer games and have hit a wall with my research. I'm hoping this community's collective knowledge might shed some light on two particularly elusive titles

Here's what I've managed to gather so far:
1. 《如意集》 (Ruyiji):This is an adventure game reportedly released for the Apple II around 1985. It's often cited as potentially the first Chinese adventure game. However, details are fuzzy—some sources suggest it may not have been a commercial release and could have been created using adventure game creation tools. Any confirmation, screenshots, or the game file itself would be invaluable.

2. 《孙悟空》 (Monkey King / Monkeykings):This one is even more obscure. According to fragmented records, it was developed in 1983 by a research team organized by the Beijing S&T Commission. The software was reportedly sold abroad as part of a bundle. Technical specifics mention an image storage capacity of 36K bytes, a program size of 40K bytes, and that it was written entirely in Z80 assembly language.

These fragments are all I have. The trail for these games, especially Monkey King, has gone very cold in Chinese-language sources.

I would be incredibly grateful for any information, leads, or personal anecdotes you might have. If you know of any specialized retro gaming forums, archives, or collector circles in China (or elsewhere) that might have knowledge of this era, please point me in the right direction!

Thank you for your time and expertise.

I tried to create a thread on Baidu Tieba in China. According to one of the participant, that Monkeyking game may be an arcade game with poor market performance since the scarce info about the Monkey king. Also there's a tangram game in that game bundles.

I really have no knowledge on chinese pc game releases, but I would advise you to try searching for something through the retrocomputing/retrogaming and chinese communities on the fediverse... from here, you can set up the language to 中文 to find em: https://instances.social/

All you will find there are mastodon instances (= communities) within the fediverse, but perhaps they will lead you to other communities using another kind of software (less popular, which practically means that they might have more reliable information and not so much spam -- hopefully).

Wishing you'll catch some useful information!
