Recently, a bunch of people using this site have taken upon themselves to celebrate May 17th, aka. "International LGBTQIA+ Awareness Day", which is apparently a popular day among Gay, Lesbian, Trans and Questioning people. However, I requested that higher-ups take these threads down rather than hit the "Ignore" key like I should. This is because, ever since 2020, I've been programmed with some truly disgusting habits courtesy of my time as a victim of the Anti-Woke Grift Cult.
The Anti-Woke Grift Cult, or "Media Grifters" as they're better known, are a cabal of internet personalities out to swindle gullible people. They do this by striking up outrage about popular media, alleging that the latest entry in a popular franchise is "woke": to me, obsessed with political virtue, but to Grifters and their parrots, A by-word for starring a black man/trans person/non-binary dude/whatever. This is a very toxic thing, and ironically rather "woke" in the original meaning of the term (being aware of societal prejudices). When I was a teen, I was rightfully staying away from these people, because they were being mocked on Twitter where I was active (sorry). There is a user called "Shitty Star Wars Posts", who devoted themselves to taking the mickey out of these people and their opinions surrounding Star Wars (which are negative, but for all the wrong reasons). I knew they were scum. But unfortunately, at the same time, I was being indoctrinated by the opposite side. I was following #ChangetheChannel, an SJW clique made up of ex-Channel Awesome staffers, and the more they became addicted to Twitter, the more they began to brainwash. Thankfully, the hoopla they made regarding Ghostbusters: Afterlife was more than enough to save me.
So, flashforward to 2020. Say that you're suffering from mental health issues and have begun to finally get the help you need. During this, you get a subscription to Midnight's Edge... And I don't need to tell you what happens next, because this was what began my induction to the Anti-Woke Grift Cult. From 2020, to 2023, I walked down the darkest path I will ever walk on as I joined the AWooGaCk and absorbed some of the most toxic right-wing thoughts that have permeated political and media discourse . I can't bring myself to remember these thoughts. But all I know is that I became a very miserable person during this time, and it wasn't until September when a certain freakout one of these Media Grifters had opened my eyes and I was finally able to break out. But the reason why I became a Grift Victim was because on the surface... they had a point. I genuinely believe that modern western media does virtue signal for far-left causes and do a terrible, exclusionary job, and I did believe that ideologues were corrupting beloved franchises for a political purpose. They were saying what I was thinking, and that made me gullible to join in.
To this day, I still carry terrible habits that I gained during my time as a grift victim, and what I did when I requested higher-ups to take down gay celebration threads was a demonstration of one of these habits: my paranoia that posting about gay and trans people online is inherent virtue signalling for far-left causes.
And it's all because I thought they were on my page. When in reality, I couldn't have been any more wrong.
