I Don't use CD's not for music, i still burn OS's on them, and some data.
where i live, CD/DVD-r's are getting hard to find, CD especially.
Last time burned a music CD was 15? years ago

I've been thinking about getting an extra external hard drive and saving some music video files in case they get lost on YouTube as lost media. It's just a hobby of mine that I enjoy.

Not a bad idea, you never know when YT will get a wild hair up it's backside and nuke something
Those who live in 3rd world countries (no offense)
I Suppose, i live in the USA tho Xdqwerty, just meant Locally the stores, are not stocking them due to lack of interest in them.

My whole itunes library form years and years ago is on CDs, dvds, heck even blueray archive.

I never want to loose what i paid for, as i know peoples ish gets removed very very often nowadays. And personally i never trusted digital distribution....

In fact, and i might be wrong, but itunes still supports you making cds of your collection...

The term is undeveloped countries. The "3rd world" refers to any country not under the influence of the US or the Soviet Union during the Cold War, which is no longer relevant. (You could argue against that, but the generally accepted idea is that it's a historical term.)

Even when it was prevalent, I didn't use to do it a lot. Usually had all things I wanted stored on hard drives.

Still, it saddens me seeing CD based media getting pushed aside. It's getting harder and harder to even find something that can play CDs

You would be surprised to see how creative these countries are to adapt and completly sidestep technological barriers

Still do until recently, when my old car only had CD/DVD player and I don't have what I want to listen on CD.
I bought a car that only had a cassette player. I got some sort of device that played over the radio, it worked pretty good. I would probably just do that rather than burn cds...

DVD burners still exist, and they play cd's just fine.

For me though, thinking about this. I would like to see an open source solution which can be ordered on PCB way and the like..

I recently got into it thanks to my uncle giving me an older PC from 2014. It was top-of-the-line back then, so its pretty decent now. Knowing it has a disc drive, I went to a Walmart and bought blank disks, got a YT to MP3 website ready, and got to downloading >:)
I was also lucky enough to have a car that has a CD player, so I get to pop any bad boys I burned in, and jammed away during long car rides!

I think the last time I burned a cd was 2005. I mostly played music from mp3 players even then.

i don't but i recently watched that technology connections about mp3 cds

im trying to recall the last time i burnt a cd and wrote on it with a sharpie. spindles and spindles of loose sometimes labelled cdrs.

i can't remember what the final one was. burning an album to give to someone probably.

I don't use CDs/DVDs, but I do download and backup everything instead of using streaming services. Vocaloid music has a way of becoming lost media rather easily.
Oh man, I totally get that. I tried to find the Miku cover for Around the world, but could only find it on BiliBili. Damn you, copyright system!

I like going to people who have nothing and burning CD’s in front of them solely to rub it in how broke they are.

It is strange you say this, as back in the day, us asian burnt cds because of how broke we where, but i guess it is the circle of life?
